PEI prize meet July 29-30.

Ron I have heard that the range might not be available to PEIRA until at least 1-Aug and therefore the match will have to be postponed or cancelled. (pretty much every PEIRA shooter is coming to shoot the New Brunswick provincials this weekend).

I will edit this post as soon as I know more (likely within a few hours)

Yes, the range is closed until at least Aug.1, that's when the inspection is supposed to happen anyway. They are re-doing the traps in the backstop, after they already completed it once....Don't ask..Just don't ask... So, as far as I know, Mitch is still looking in to whether we can still have the range on the 29-30th, or, like Daniel said, it will be postponed and hopefully not cancelled.

Thanks for the info guys.
Unfortunately I can't make New Brunswick this weekend, but I sure would like to be in the loop for PEI.
Keep them in the V's.

Don't count us out yet. The work will be completed before the end of July. The hold up may be simply the will of the military powers to be, I think diplomacy will be key to timely event success.

Which range is it at? I'm on vacation in PEI and would love to attend if it's not cancelled. Any other details would be welcomed.

Will update this as we get more info. If our range is not open, we have been given a gracious offer to use the range in St. Antoine, NB to host our shoot. It's not the ideal solution to host the PEI annual prize meet in NB, but definitely MUCH better than a cancelled match. We should know more by Wednesday, so just watch this thread for any updates by myself or others.

Cheers,
Spencer

I received an email yesterday from the PEIRA. Efforts are continuing, to hold the match as scheduled 29-30 July, and will continue right up until the last possible moment.

Re: details, the match is fired 29-30 July (note: Friday and Saturday - not Sunday).

The match starts at 08:00 each day - so arrive well before then to register etc.

The match is fired at Alexandra Firing Range, which is just east of Charlottetown. It is a 600 yard range, and is one of the prettiest ranges I have ever shot on. Unlike most rifle matches, my family is constantly lobbying me to attend PEI matches. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the update!

I assume that non-competetors are welcome.

Is there an admission charge to watch the events?

Non-competitors are welcome; no admission charge and good behaviour (typical good range manners) expected of course. But honestly, watching a rifle match has got to be one of the most boring things imaginable... bring a rifle if you possibly can, or arrange to borrow one...

Hey Ken, The PEI APM is confirmed as cancelled/postponed. Talks are now to possibly take the burden off of NS and host the Atlantics/APM in one weekend in PEI or extend our season into late Sept. and hold our APM then. The only thing we are wondering about that, is how many people we would be losing to hunting commitments. Any questions, comments, concerns or opinions are welcomed.

Cheers,
Spencer

I think a labour day APM/Atlantics would be good.

Might even get a Newf or two over for that one! :D

I bet the NS crowd would be happy to part with it, they've been pretty busy.
