Pencil barrels for the AR-15 shorter than 20"

Random late night musings here, so bear with me. I've been looking around, a few can be found in the states, usually called lightweight barrels instead of pencil barrels, but I am having trouble finding any light profile AR15 barrels shorter than 20" in Canada.

I have it in my head that I want to build a lightweight AR good for CQB that still has enough velocity that I don't need grenade sights to reach out to 4-500 yards with at my range. I don't want a shorty 10-12" barrel if I can at all avoid it, my ideal would be a 16" pencil/ lightweight profile AR-15 barrel. Very likely to be mounting a BCM KMR on it for weight savings as well, along with some titanium or otherwise lightweight guts as I progress down this build in time.

Is this a pipe dream or can barrels like the Daniel defense lightweight or BCM BFH 16" Mid Length light weight be brought into Canada?

Colt 6520
This. I just picked up a mint shape 6520 from Steve at IRUNGUNS and it's a beautiful carbine, very lightweight and handy. Back in the 80s my father would travel to the US for police shooting tournaments and bring me back flyers from the various police supply companies. The 6520 featured prominently in a lot of their advertising and I thought it looked great. I had wanted one ever since and now that I have one, it's just as cool now as it was back then. :)

I'll see if I can scrounge some pics later.

Those dominion arms 16" C8 clone uppers. I was going to make a sub 100Y light weight AR.

Other then well a FF tube ( Or carbone fibre ), Ace LTD ARFX tube stock, and light weight barrel I'm not sure where else you could shave weight. They did make a carbon fibre AR15. Or can run one of those poly metal hybrids.

CTCS can import from Rainier Arms, and only charges $30 to do so. See their dealer thread for details.

They have a sweet Noveske barrel that costs as much as a mortgage payment in some parts of the country: http://www.rainierarms.com/noveske-n4-light-5-56mm-barrel-16-sb-5864

U.S. List price on mid-length DD LW 16" barrels is $289, so a call to Wolverine may be in order...

You can spend a LOT of money shaving an ounce or two, and that won't really make much difference in carrying weight. As an example, I bought a Midwest Industries SSK hand guard from CTCS. The BCM KMR was exactly one ounce (26 grams) lighter, but cost $400 instead of $250.
