Lol. Legend has it, and new recruits were always told the story, that the military always spiked the food with saltpeter to kill the ### drive. Whether they actually did or not, I don't know. Same with prison inmates
Used to put it in the coffee inWW2 but most guys said it never worked until the 70's and 80's on them.

Except that we can no longer buy saltpeter in Canada, for exactly that reason.... Government takes away all the fun
It is a bit of a challenge to acquire potassium nitrate [saltpetre] .I've found it's available from some hydroponic suppliers or fertilizer stores in Canada wanting to make some nitrate paper for paper cartridges. Not a lot of outlets but there are some .I have found them in Victoria B.C. and Winnipeg ,Manitoba at reasonable prices. Problem is you have to pick up in person and present your driver's license .You can also get food grade KNO3 from some butcher suppliers for food preservation but that is a relatively more expensive way to go....I've yet to get some as I have not found anything local .There seems to be some untrustworthy /scam websites in the food industry end of things so beware.....I also tried UBC but you have to be a chemistry customer as there are no public sales on chemicals.....
