Has anyone played around with shooting percussion revolvers with just a cap and a wax bullet.....like the quick draw guys do with centrefire single actions?

Thought it might be a fun, low cost, safer approach to holster plinkin...

Any success with just a cap and wax or other projectile or is the cap not enuf poop for even a wax or other very light more benign projectile??

Would def be the most clean fun I can have with my perc revolvers too :)

Thanks

Ive never tried it with a percussion gun bit in my 44 Russian black powder cartridge revolver Ive had a lot of fun with just a small pistol primer and a wax bullet. I bought them online for around $30 for 1000 but I cant remember the vendor. They're very hard a wax and wont deform very much even after hitting a hard surface

I believe Pedersoli sells some reusable plastic balls that can be shot just a percussion cap. Not sure if the idea would work with a cap n ball, but should work fine in a single shot.

It's just a guess on my part but you might find that it would work best with nippes that are drilled out so the full pressure from the cap enters the chamber. Sort of like the brass used for wax and primers uses cases that are drilled a little larger.
