Permanent hunting blinds

8x8x8 is what mine is. Little big, next one will maybe be 8x6 but for only one more sheet of plywood and a couple more two-by-twices your 8x8. Nice to have room to take you boots and jacket off before you step up to the office chair.

Deer don’t seem to mind the big brown box, atleast the dozen or so we’ve shot in front of it haven’t.

great size like ours....at my age at 71 its great to have some room to stretch a bit....

My neighbour loves them and has parked quite a few along my fence lines because he has bulldozed and drained all his game habitat. He has planted a couple of food plots next to my preserved habitat as well. I’m sure he’s comfortable but very inconsiderate and greedy. Walk, spot and stalk is fair chase in my books. Camping over a food plot is trapping not hunting.

while my stand isn't permanent, the location is.
I hunt the area during the fall migration and it took some years to figure out the best spot on the mountainside to set up a stand. The ground is too steep for the ladder to sit with both legs on the ground so we had to improvise with an extendable leg on the down hill side.
I used to hike, stalk, on the trails on the mountains there but my disabilities have limitted me in recent years.
I do still enjoy spot and stalk hunting for animals in the interior of BC where the terrain is more suitable for a slow walk.
my stand blends in pretty good though ;)
took the picture looking at it from the side shooting lane after downing a buck right where i'm standing to take the pic.

This is my daughter's blind, it's on her farm in ON near Tillsonburg.
All built from used materials from barn reno's, fencing and decking.
Its built on the side of a hill, it gives a great view over one if her fields and the edges are planted for late fall deer treats.

Here are examples of blinds we have built. Pre-fabed in my shop and then assembled on site. We installed stairs on these. I'm 64 but anticipating that climbing ladders at 80 years of age might not be possible or a good idea.

I really want to erect a platform at one of my favorite hunting spots but it's crown land and not allowed here in BC..... although I come across them all the time in moose country. I also know of another one that has been intact and maintained for over 20 years now and the CO's know about it but have never removed it. I don't use it because i didn't build it. I wonder if biologists that monitor the deer herds use it and that's why it's still there after all these years.
I stash my ladder stand in the bush though and it doesn't take much to get it set up when i arrive at that spot. Not a lot of hunters venture that far into those mountains so no one has come across it yet hehe

Posted in another thread about blinds.
Built this platform 16' in height. Can't remember the actual dimensions but thinking of building a permanent blind on top?
The cabela's one froze to it late last year and didn't make the winter.
Haven't decided yet if I'm getting a new blind or build something permanent???
I'll try to remember to update, if I do.
Ladder is from an old permanent stand that the tree it was anchored to decide to break in a wind storm 😞
