Permanent hunting blinds

I stash my ladder stand in the bush though and it doesn't take much to get it set up when i arrive at that spot. Not a lot of hunters venture that far into those mountains so no one has come across it yet hehe

Good for you. Not sure how people justify building permanent structures on crown land Pet peave of mine and if it wasn’t for the fire risk I’d burn every one of them.
Selfish I’m claiming this spot on public people drive me nuts.
 
This one started out as just a platform, built using a set of 4 brackets sold at Cabela's for this purpose. After one year I started putting a pop-up blind on it, then eventually added walls and a roof and an actual closing door over the entry, mostly built from junk, recycled wood and scraps. This year I finally installed a set of sliding windows on three sides of it. It was originally just standing on the ground, with guylines to prevent wind-tipping, but after it sunk into the ground about 5-6 inches I dug in under each corner and filled with concrete. The permanently-attached "steep stairs" became a reality after the original ladder that leaned against it fell over while I was inside! :)

I've overnighted twice in this blind. Once was just an experiment to see if doing so was better than walking out an hour before earliest light the next morning. It wasn't. :) The second sleepover came when the field was full of deer when I wanted to leave and I didn't want to blow them all out because I was waiting for one particular specimen. Never got him, or even saw him during legal light.

I'm planning on stealing the idea from chuckAA and installing an aerial urinal this weekend. :)

ha, that is a handy invention
A friend uses a water bottle with the bottom cut off as the funnel, then a section of hose attached to it that goes into a 1 gallon milk jug he has hanging on a hook just below the foot area of the stand. Keeps it up off the ground so nothing smells it while you are hunting. Been meaning to make one myself

It's funny, I have been mentoring a new hunter that is the same age as me. She used to own the local Iron Horse pub a few years back. She never mentioned that her family has an acreage property here that they lease out to a hay farmer. Not sure why she didn't think to hunt there LOL We were talking about it yesterday and this summer we are going to build 2 blinds on the property. Some great inspiration in this thread for design ideas and considerations.
