I just love that EE forum. Anything you could possibly want is in there and I have wasted many hours well on it. About the only beef I have with it are knuckle heads that post stuff for sale without any pictures.:mad:

In any event, I see some prohibited stuff for sale like the shorty handguns and the full autos. I can legally own pistols and restricted rifles but I never bothered going after a 'prohib' license. How hard is that permit to get?

And supposing I want to buy something...who is in charge of dealing with the CFC? The buyer or the seller? How many of you guys used the EE forum? Did it work well for you? I have never bought guns this way and any pointers you guys have would be appreciated.
 
not everyone has a hosting service nor how to link a picture, most of them will email you a picture if your serious about the item, however there idiots on there just want to collect photos, with no intentions of buying anything, that gets annoying fast.

as for the prohibited license, unless you were legal owner of a prohibited when the regulation is enacted, there is no way of ever getting one.

finally when it comes to transfers the seller takes your info down and call it in, than he will call you back with a reference number, than you call in with the number to confirm the transfer.
 
You can't apply for a "Prohib Liscence" Although there are always rare exceptions, generally the only way to wind up with a prohib endorsement on your PAL is if you own something that is made prohib. If you owned it before they will graciously allow you to keep it. But, if you didn't own it before it was prohib, you never will. It's a nice slick way of outlawing guns without a huge outcry from people that would otherwise have to turn in weapons and receive no compensation.

there are no exceptions except 12.7 and certain businesses. if you dont have it, you wont get it. if there was a way around it, the 40,000+ members here would have put our collective heads togther already and figured it out.

as for the EE, both the buyer and the seller have to deal with the CFC, buyer starts the transfer, seller completes it.
 
This thread should probably be in the Newbie forum. You should check that area out. Lots of info in there.

As for buying/selling in the EE, it is a great option to have and you will find some excellent deals. Just be thorough about reading the seller's post so you can get all the information. Then if you're still interested, PM him/her and ask any questions you may have (who's covering shipping, Condition, rnd count, accessories etc. etc.). After that, make an offer and if they go for it, arrange transfer and shipping details, remembering to send PAL #, Name and Address. Arrange payment, usually via EMT (the best) and wait for transfer to be approved. Then when you get the item, be sure to give it a good look over for your satisfaction and leave the seller feed back. That's it.

Just beware of people with low or no trader rating. I recently had an unpleasant deal with a new guy. I usually give everyone a chance, but now I'm going to be a lot more picky about who I sell to. Ensure you know the rules of the forum.

It's an awesome system and you will find a lot of great stuff in there.

While this is a good general rule, I have had some unfortunate experience with some people with "higher" ratings and good post history if that matters.

There have been no 'bad' trades though, more of the fact that people seem really interested and ask you to go through many many hoops then just leave you hanging with no reason or 'no thanks'. Now I understand about not being able to get the funds together (sort of) as I've had this response and it does happen. :rolleyes:

In my own opinion, its just common sense and courtsey to let the other person know where you stand. :p

Some people ask questions but have no intention of buying, or the answers weren't what they were hoping for. You'd think common courtesy would prevail and they would let you know they are no longer interested, but some people don't. A seller is not obliged to hold an item unless he and the prospective buyer have agreed on a deal. Then it's too late for either buyer or seller to back out, and appropriate feedback should be left if one of the parties does back out of the deal.

Expect some frivolous comms and don't let it bug you.

Questions are just questions. There is no intention to buy. I get tons of questions and I certainly do not expect every single person to tell me their intentions right away and if i don't hear from them, I assume they weren't that interested. It's no big deal. That's why I usually stick to the "I'll Take It" rule. First person to say that in a PM wins. Most guys do the same.

I do however have a problem when people ask me to hold an item or specifically tell me they will contact me back but never really do. There's a difference between that and some person just showing a little interest or asking a question.

you can't get a prohib license, BUT, you can buy an AR15, one with a really really short barrel if you can find it. They are surely going to be prohibited in the near future, and once that happens you can get your prohibited license and buy all the prohibs you can afford :)

Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

There's absolutely nothing to indicate the AR will be prohibited any time soon and if it ever was I'm sure they wouldn't grandfather AR owners into a class of firearms they can't currently own. That makes absolutely no sense.


ps Glenfilthie, how can you be a member here since 2005 and not know you can't get a prohib license unless you are grandfathered?

There is no legal provision for further grandfathering of additional prohibited firearms, if prohibition is done by Order in Council. Any OiC prohibitions would result in confiscation, and there is no provision for compensation.
IF the AR or any other firearm were prohibited by legislation, and IF a new 12(X) category were created, presumably grandfathered individuals could buy and sell AR type rifles.
BUT,there is no reason for any gov't interested in prohibitions to open a can of worms by introducing legislation, when OiCs can be used conveniently.
So, under current existing legislation, it is NOT possible to get a prohibited licence.

Yeah, I hear you. It's totally understandable with your above points.

I don't mind people asking me questions since I do the same.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread so I'll just go back to the EE hoping to be the first to catch that NIB HK USC that somewill post. :D

You clearly do not know what you are talking about. I suggest you do as the other posters recommend and read some more before you offer up advice on a subject you don't understand. Newbs giving advise to newbs....:rolleyes:
