I was looking at getting one of the green ones from Zenitco on ebay, was just about ready to check out, but then read that lasers over 5mw are prohib from being imported into Canada...…. did CBSA give you any trouble with this?

No issues at all. I just ordered off zentico on eBay and it showed up at my door a couple weeks later. I assume if their was an issue with its allowance into the country that CBSA would have stopped its import?

That's much smaller than I expected! I'm going to start looking into the IR illuminator versions. You mentioned you can turn the power up and down; do you think it ends up low power enough to be considered eye safe-ish? My concern with these death star lasers has to do with blinding someone or myself. If I could get a full power illuminator but be able to turn the laser(s) down, that would be ideal, imo

To be honest I have no clue about the power levels at the lowest setting.

Keep the muzzle pointing down range at all times you shouldn't have worry about blinding anyone ;)

haha I am aware of which end should be pointed where, but with high power lasers, something as simple as a bounce off a reflective surface can be enough to cause eye damage.

Can I ask a dumb question - why did you buy one of these? Is it just for LARPing? Do you do enough night shooting to make this actually useful? It's super cool, but (much like a leopard tank) I can see the le/miI application I just don't know why a civvy would want one. If it's"just because" then that's a valid reason in my books.

My range allows me access to shoot in the dark so using this with a set of NODS (prob next purchase) and doing some low light IR shooting should be fun. While ive never shot with NODS or an IR device before, my range allows me open access to shoot on the move, barricades etc which is consistent with my training. Ive done plenty of low light shooting before (im also certified by Surefire as a low light instructor), so this is just the next evolution of my training. Plus "just because". LOL

I've been looking at these off and on for a while.....nice to know someone has recently brought one in. I wasn't sure if they would be allowed. Now I guess I do! Looking forward to see some photos under IR.

Are you running this through a PVS-14 or any other tube? How's the IR laser brightness?

I'm suddenly more tempted than ever to pull the trigger on one. I kept convincing myself I need the illuminator, but honestly a slaved laser system might be just fine.

I still dont have nods. It will be my next large purchase but who knows when that will be. The pic I posted was just the visible laser photographed with my phone.
