Has anybody tried this stuff? I picked some up at a gun show last weekend. I really only bought it because I didn't find anything I wanted to spend money on, so I figured I'd buy a box of this stuff. It's 147 grain, made by "FAME S.A.C." in Peru. It's brass cased, boxer primed, and non-corrosive. I had it out today, and it shot like garbage. I mean, it functioned great, it just would not group at 100 yards. Literally all over the target, with no rhyme or reason. I was shooting Winchester 150gr hollow points and PRVI FMJ's and I get consistent groups of 2-3", but this stuff...wow.

So just curious, has anybody else dealt with this stuff? I found a guy on m14forums that reported similar results. I'd like to pick up some bulk 7.62x51, and I just want to make sure it was the ammo, not the fact my rifle might not like 7.62x51?

SA countries generally only surplus ammo for quality reasons. I have seen some good, but mostly poor quality.

If it is a good deal it will work for practice.

It wasn't really a good price, about on par with PRVI FMJ, which shoots circles around this stuff (well shoots circles within this stuff apparently lol). I figured I would just give a box of 20 a shot since I never see 7.62x51 locally. Your right though, any shooting is good practice, the 8-9" group was pretty embarassing though lol. Might have to pick up some of the steel norc stuff soon.
