Wholesale is shipping my new toy to me.

Anybody have any "pet" loads for their .223 varmiter that they wish to share?

25.0 gr W748 for bullets like 50 gr VMAX, 68 gr. HPBT Hornady, 69 gr. Sierra MK

23.5 gr W845 for bullets : 68 gr HPBT Hornady & 69 gr. Sierra MK

23.5 gr W735 for ALL of the above bullets

Both W735 and W845 (no longer available) are surplus ball powders from Higginson Powders outside Ottawa and can be bought for $ 14.00 per lb, but you gotta buy them in 7 lb bags.

W748 is my all time favourite for Service Rifle competition and groundhog hunting. The Surplus ball powders are great for all of the above, plus cheaper carbine shooting.

Enjoy the .223 ... great bang for the buck.

24.5 grains of Varget for 75 grain Hornady HPBT & 77 grain SMK
25-25.5 grains of Varget for 68 grain Hornady HPBT & 69 grain SMK
26 grains of BL-C(2) for 62 grain SS109

Winchester Brass & Primers OAL at 2.250"

24 grains of Varget with 68grn Hornady HPBT Match
26grns Varget with 69grn Sierrra MatchKing

These are if your rifle is 1:9 or better twist rate.

Second on these loads and a little more Varget with 75gr HPBT works in my police

Out of a 20" Colt 1:7 Barreled AR:

Hornady 75 grain HPBT:
24.5 gr. Varget = 2700 fps
25.0 gr. Varget = 2775 fps
25.5 gr. Varget = 2815 fps

Getting a Stevens 200? for some reason mine hates 55gr.Military hard-ball such as American Eagle or South African Milarm fodder but loves everything handloaded, even 40gr.bullets.

Simple...H335 and remington bulk HP bullets...ave. 3 shot around .60" out of a Model 7 Rem....use the amount of powder that shoots best in your rifle..
