Consider using Garand loads; auto-loaders are sensitive to the pressure curve. Slow burning powders will pound the action a lot harder than it needs to be. A quick indictator of trouble is if your rifle is trying to put the handloaded empties into orbit while
stacking the empties from factory ammo right beside you.
I had one a few years ago.I used small base dies(RCBS) imr 4064 and Hornady 130 & 150 gr SP shot really great in it usally under a inch at a 100 yards.I did have a few jams with it till I went with the SB sizing die.
I've been reloading for a BAR and Garand for 30+ yrs. Fooled around with different powders and bullets to start. Have always used SB dies. Kind of thought I needed them especially in the BAR. What I settled on is Hornady 165 gr SP's. 4064 powder. 46 grs in the M1 and 47.5 in the BAR. CCI or Win primers. BAR will shoot 1 and a half inch groups at 100 yds. Lots good enough for my hunting rifle. Load the M1 a little lighter in respect for the old battle rifle. Five reloads only per case then off to cast bullet loads for my 03A3. Never had an issue in either rifle over hundred's of reloads.
Always check "internet" loads in at least one reliable source (manual)
