Petawawa Gun Club Presents.. The Sharpshooter Competition

Had a great time at the "practice" day. Only my second time shooting at 600 yards. Whoot ! Looking forward to the matches today! Shooting my Savage 10 fcp-k 223 with a bushnell 6500 scope. Shot a nice 2/3 MOA group at 600 yesterday with it. :)

A rainy day yesterday but it was a good practice day ...only took a few pics as today we have a professional photographer coming out. I tried a few rounds out of my new Savage 10TR and was impressed

There were some really nice rifles and good shooters show up for the practice day
These 2 rifles were shooting beside me...kinda intimidating ..lol
Surgeon action (308)

Sitting in the butts right now enjoying the little bit of sun warming my legs. Life is good

I'm glad as poop that you guys had a great time up in Petawawa. Life's too short not to have a great time, build community, and get a few laughs. Did chalkriver beat everyone with his Norinco copper washed match ammo? :D

Cheers,

Barney

LOL...I am reloading my own ammo now Barney but still use the Norinco Plinko ammo in my m-305,s ....the skill level of shooters was really high for this event , but I did OK . It was an excellent day of shooting and getting to know some fine people.
Sylencer really went all out in organizing this and he is to be commended on all the hard work he put into organizing and running this match . It was a great event with a lot of high end firearms to drool over with some pretty fancy shooting as well.

X2 on sylencer putting this together and making it possible.

Barney, I represented team norinco plinko. I did ok to 400 but 500-600 I think I was showering the guys in the butts with dirt from the berm.

I also stumbled upon this... It's the rare klink1983 scavaging for scrap brass in the training area.

Some pics from today

The run from the 600 to the 500 yard line

Some guys were better at it than others ..LOL

A big thank you to Jaime for putting this shoot. It was a blast and definitely looking forward to future shoots. It was well put together, lots of great sponsors with great prizes. Also Greg, Morgan, Derrick, the two guys that were running the butts and any other members of the petawawa gun club that i forgot to mention, thank you. All your hard work made it a very enjoyable weekend and I will be joining the petawawa gun club soon

I'll fight a black bear, bare fisted for scrap brass in a bin!! I'll sort through half eaten hamburgers and dead mice too!! :-D

It was a great shoot! I knew I wasn't going to win the rifle so it was a big personal development day for me. I'm more comfortable at 600yards with using my scope reticle to its fullest capability (Thank you Vortex sales guy)......and I walked away with some stickers, and a nice pair of Underarmour cool guy tactical pants courtesy of Millbrook in Ottawa.

My only question is why was a guy in sports class, if he took a scope of of a high end precision rifle and mounted it on his AR which ultimately was capable of 1/2 to 1/4 moa?

In the end, I would do this shoot in a heartbeat, and would have even paid $40.00 for it. Next time around ill work on bringing in some out of towners, I have some contacts in the Ottawa area, Kingston, and my old stomping grounds in Oshawa.

Good on ya sylencer! It was a gooder despite the weather!!

Wow. What a fantastic weekend. Many thanks to Jamie and the crew for an excellent set of matches and a good time. Very pleased with my results. As to ve expected reading the wind was key! My Savage 10 fcp .223 did the job ! ( can't wait to see the scores) Came home tired, sore, sunburned and with a big smile ;-)

Copied from the rules.....

"If your rifle is capable of shooting 1 MOA or less at 100 yards, you will automatically be placed in the Precision Class. Range staff has final say which class you will be shooting in. You will, however, have the option to compete in the “Precision” class if you wish to.
Examples of Sport Class; M-14, Standard AR15, Standard hunting rifle with light barrel and low end scope.
Examples of Precision Class; Remington 700, Sako TRG 22, Savage 10TR, Match ARs"

Yeah, someone definetly should have paid a bit more attention to who was shooting in what class.

That is the only - for the plethora of +'s for the shoot. I had a blast and would definetly enjoy another one in the future..... with more falling plates action! :)

What precision rifle was used in the sport class?

Just to clarify ....The guy who won the sporting rifle class used an AR and is one heck of a good shot ( I have shot with him a few times now) , there were a few AR,s there that were in that class . And a couple were of a higher standard than his . Sylencer put ALOT of effort into organizing this event and tried his best to even the playing field as best he could. And further more Sylencer actually is out some of his own money as am I on putting this together . A $20 entry fee with a free lunch was a pretty good deal ...it wont be that price next year I can assure you .

I agree. The guy who won the sporter class is a great shot, I was watching him last year at the PR clinic and was very impressed. Now for then entry fee thing. Two days of shooting at Yankee range, free lunch, everyone got a great pocket knife and another prize of some sort and all those targets/plastic bags that were used for 20 bucks, what a phucking deal. I would of easily paid $60 any day of the week for that shoot. Also the other food that was for sale, shiit I haven't paid 50 cents for a bag of chips since 1984. You guys definitely weren't in it to make money, just there to put on a great shoot and bring the firearm community together, I'll be there for the next one hands down.

if your talking about me...( 16" pencil barrel but I mounted a nightforce on it cause I was not allowed to shoot my 260) my gun does not hold 1.5 MOA....and I didn't win the match

No it isn't you he is talking about Jamie ...... you should have noticed that when I described that guy as "one heck of a good shot " ... LOL .
