The brain worm that the mainland moose contracts from deer makes moose lose any fear of humans. They'll hang around houses and pastures for long periods of time until they are usually put down by DNR. I didn't think it was much of a problem in Cape Breton because of the low whitetail population.

my dad had a fawn sniff his gun barrel a couple years ago. Pretty sure the neighbours were feeding them because they had no fear of humans and got killed shortly after daylight on the first day LOL

Cow moose, especially those with calves can be extremely aggressive. I definitely wouldn't want my kids trying to pet one, even off the deck.
