Pewter Bullets

I would think if a person had a supply of pewter and a pewter casting machine you could make a lot of bullets in a hurry. not sure how much they would weight compared to lead or how hard they would be.

I had smelted down about 100lbs of WW and about 25lbs of pewter, this was the left overs from each pot so I just mixed them together,, and yes very shiny.

I'm thinking a mix of 95% WW and 5% pewter for the next batch.

these bullets are 152grains and the WW bullets are 156grains

Where does one get pewter????? I hear thrift shops are a good place to start, But how do you Identify pewter???

Pewter is soft so if you can't bend it, it's probably not pewter (94% tin, 1% copper, and 5% antimony). Also most plates, cup, beer mugs made of pewter will be marked 'Pewter" or have some type of hall mark, 'Birks" is a common one here. I lucked out last summer a bought an entire 8 place setting for $20 at a yard sale. plates cups, beer mugs, salt, pepper, serving plates.. lady didn't want them as they had lead in them and she didn't want to eat from lead dishes,, me neither.
