What are people paying for pewter these days?

I am looking at paying $2-3/lb

I see pewter picture frames key chains etc and tankards all the time at garage sales for cheap! Maybe I should be scooping some up?

I typically find tankards and other tableware at the thrift stores around here for a couple bucks or so. Enough for my needs. I will admit to a wee bit of guilt though, when I melt stuff with engravings like "Happy 60th anniversary Uncle Ralph", but then I figure if none of his family cares what happened to his mug, why should I?

I keep checking for pewter but all I find so far is lead . Salt and pepper shakers and goofy looking thinks like welcome to New York. Will keep checking.
