Just picked up my new PGW Coyote in 6.5x47 Lapua yesterday. I must say I was very impressed with the rifle as well as dealing with Ross and Steve. The whole transaction was a great experience. Emails were always answered right away, and visits to see the shop and progress on the rifle were always welcome.

The smoothness of the action cycling is just dreamy. The feeding of the mag system works perfect. Paint job was beautiful as well. Ross was also very helpful in setting up a system to adapt a Rempel bipod or a Harris bipod on this rifle system. Now I can use the Rempel for F-class events or just use the harris bipod for everyday shooting.

They also set up the front rail, installed a 6 port brake and put in a jewel trigger that i provided. They also painted the thread cap to match the rifle. These things were outside the normal coyote packages but were important to me and they had no problem with going the extra mile to look after it.
All I can say is very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

I got the rifle out to the range today to test some loads. There is not a whole lot of reloading info out there for this cartridge. Some from 6mmbr.com, some from Long Range Hunting and some from snipershide.com. This testing is only a start for me and now I have something to work with. All in all it shot really well. My biggest worries were high pressures in my loads since my data i could collect was minimal. All the rounds I fired had no pressure signs whatsoever, so now i can go back and bump up the charges a touch to see if i can get a 123 grn lapua scenar to go 3000 + fps without hurting case life.

Look forward to do some more testing without the 20 km/h winds and the sub zero temps when you can feel your fingers. Groups were decent and i know i can bring them tighter with some more load development.

All in all, this rifle system is great. If you want a high end product that is built tough and shoots great well here it is. Thanks again guys.

Drewl - can't wait to see that on the line this year.

Why do you guys keep tempting me with these great guns, I can only resist seeing them so much!

s.a.w, nice rig...what had to be done to the stock to accommodate the Rempel rest?

They had to drill and tap into the bottom side of the aluminum block that is bedded into the stock for the front rail. This would allow me to attach the quick release section of the rempel bipod. When i just want the harris on, they just made some black plug screws i can put in where the quick release was bolted on. Then i just screw the swivel stud back in and i can put the harris on.

Nice rig

I was on the phone just the other day with Ross at PGWDTI about building that exact rifle. We talked about things and I decided to go with the standard 308 version. I can't wait for mine to show up, they sure do look sweet and yes they are only $4700.

I'm curious as to how this will fare in an F-Class competition... Is the grid there with 1" or 2" squares?

One inch squares. 5 shots at 100 yards........

I am thinking the same. How will it fare? 139 scenars have a BC of .615 but this cartridge only gets em going at 2600 fps. 123 scenars have a BC
of .547 and are going up to 2930, but a lighter bullet. Maybe the 130 VLD Berger's are top choice - BC of .595, right inbetween. I think it's a great caliber for 600 but yet to be seen how she does at 1000.

Beauty. Ross and the gang at PGW have been a pleasure to deal with. I have nothing but positve things to say about them.....and.....they build some pretty darn good rifles too....;).

Gunner I asume yours is a 6.5x47 Lapua case?
This maye be of some help to you with your new gun, Friend has a 6.5x47 Lapua he has tried the 140gr and there not fast enough at 900m he uses 130gr bergers with RL15 and hey has won some shoots here in east. I have shot beside him at 900m he shot 8 V bulls out of 15 shots "new 1/2min target" only 1 four and there was conditions to deal with.
I noticed you used some rl17 I would keep tweeking with it.
very nice rig you have
Good shooting

I shoot 6.5X47 Lapua in a Stiller tac-30 and Kreiger 25" long.

I shoot Rl-15, CCI 450 primers and the 130Gr berger. My velocity is running just over 2950Fps.

You should have absolutely no trouble getting 2900 FPS out of a 130Gr berger, especially if you could get hold of some Rl-17

Good luck, and congrats on an OUTSTANDING rifle!!

I'd stay with the 120 to 130 gr pills for that cartridge. That's what I'd use in it and they seem to group well. Unless you can drive a 140gr @ 2,900fps for 900m I'd rather play with those 130's. You'll need a 260 Ackley, 6.5x55 or 6.5x284 to get up to that speed with safe pressures and good accuracy with 140+ grs.

Is the PGW 6.5x47 Coyote a different chamber than the Lapua 6.5x47?

Have fun. :)
