Hi Everyone, looks like I started this in the wrong forum:

Hi a friend and I have been trying to determine a fair price for his 4 year old PGW Coyote in 308. The gun is in great shape and he has owned it since new.

Can you guys please give me an idea of its value?

Thanks!

Hard to say. How many rounds through it? What is its general condition? How many mags? They list at 4800$ brand new. For me, I wouldn't pay over 3800-4000$ for a used one no matter the condition.

Anyone know the PGW line? I'm looking for a price point on a fluted .308 Coyote in a McMillan stock, S&B scope with a Cadex mount. There was a burr in the chamber so the armorer shortened the barrel from 26" to 25" to rechambering, refinished in a Teflon coating.Thats a Shmidt & Bender5x25x56
Pics to come

Like the older posts indicated it depends on what accessories it includes ( mags, fitted case, NV bridge, what camo pattern stock etc). A few have passed through EE recently and seem to sit for a while if prices in the upper 5-6k range (without optics) then move when the price drops down into the 4500 range-and that is dependent on condition and rounds fired. The option to purchase w/o optics might open up your potential purchasers as well.

A photo of the bolt face helps me decide on validity of the round count. There was a 6.5CM version a while back with a totally torched bolt face which told a lot about what the barrel condition was likely to be. And be sure to delete old posts with hand load recipes if the ad will say “400 rounds of factory ###x ammo only”- saw that on one of the past ads.

I’ve been watching them over the last 12 months and that’s what I’ve seen for price trends. There seems to be a recent uptick on Coyotes hitting the market.

I've had the same observations. Been watching for a while now as well. I just made a deal on one last night. Only I ended up going with a 6.5 CM instead of a 308.

Thanks everyone, Yeah, the stock is sweet. Im still struggling with the photo hosting, but will get a couple more up tomorrow once I can get infront of a computer...once I know the value I can see what he's willing to take for it.

These rifles sell all day long "used" in the $3500 to $4500 price range, they have one of the best barrels out there, so unless it has 10,000 rds and is not shooting they way you want it to? then I guess it's what you can afford or are willing to pay? Given the rifles reputation, even if you "over pay" the rifle is still a good investment IMO.

@ 260rds down range , the barrel is just getting "broken in" , no worries.

How are the stocks colored? I havent seen this rifle in person. Is the base color the outer resin? Or us it simply painted with duracoat or something? Also im not sure why the cadex appears white ....

That stock and other McMillans are moulded in dyes when the fiberglass is laid up. They also apply finishes and textured colours but that model and many others the pattern is part of the gel coat outer finish.

I had the exact configuration rifle that you are looking at....they are amazing rifles and shoot very well. The stock colour is indeed moulded in and the CF camo is a nice departure from the norm.

The new versions have changed with the Remington style trigger safety and IBI barrels, so I can’t say which way quality went but The older versions are shooters for sure.

The re-chamber may be a concern, depending on where you stand on that.....if it shoots well, no problem.
