PGW Timbewolf pros and cons? looking for opinions

Sorry, I forgot the picture of the ugly thing I post every time I get a chance..

Funny thing is, I bought this gun on a whim/impulse buy to try long range precision shooting (haven't even shot it yet!)....

And us peasant folk are still stuck with our savages. Impulse buys... Wish I knew what they were...

nothing wrong with supporting a Canadian company.

-Alberta tactical rifle supply
-AC Douglas
-North shore barrels

all companies I have personally supported and all build a nicer looking rifle of higher quality with tighter tolerances then PGW

Lots of these Canadian companies also build rifles with components bought from other Canadian companies

-Ron Smith Barrels
-Giallard barrels

You make some valid points however the way you go about doing so comes off as argumentative and abrasive.

Owning or comissioning a custom build does not guarantee a rifle built to the strictest tolerances. In fact I have seen and owned custom rifles built by people held in very high regard (at least on CGN) that were down right embarassing. As it stands, for me personally there are about a half dozen "smiths" in this country that I would trust and feel confident in building a gun for me.

I'm just saying that "custom" can still mean crap, and sometimes doesnt guarantee anything.

Agreed. Something about the barrels they always use really does not do the package justice. I don't know if its the tapper, how it gets so small at the muzzle end, or the ugly brake. I think if the barrel was way larger diameter at the end it would help. Something is just off.

Only thing that could make it worse would be if it had that ugly helical fluting
See that's one thing I think is cool about PGW. different strokes for different folks.

I didn't call anything about extremely stringent standards.I asked if they were.

I sure would hope they are held to some type of minimum specs as they are being used to defend lives and protect folks.

What do you call extremely stringent standards?? They are a service rifle, they are not built to the same tolerances as a custom rifle.

I think most savage rifles look nicer then PGW

Now I'm probably going to have to listen to how much better PGW is then savage arnt I.......................

ill take this savage over a PGW any day....... Id also take this 338 edge built by ATRS over anything PGW

Droooolllllll! those rifles are amazing. once i get my house, im treating myself to a custom rig from north shore. lol savage so I wasn't saying I hate them. The PGW is nice. But I will rather spend that amount of money on a rifle I can literally design just for what I want it for. There are things is dont want for the PGW.

I'm sure a certain member will chirp up soon and flame me for even speaking of savage in his presence.....

Untrue...education is your friend...

The Timberwolf Chassis is produced entirely in house as is the receiver, bolt, magazines, magazine followers, muzzle brakes, scope rails, NV rails, accessory rails suppressors, bolt shrouds, safeties and a number of other components.

Come to Winnipeg for a tour and I will be happy to show you all of these things both in production and finished...

Where do you get this crap info from?? Never mind I know lol..

in a cadex chasis, so its essentially a massed produced custom, which again work great within a very narrow limitation of ammo. and if that is what a guy wants PGW's are excellent.

for others being able to buy any ammo and have is shot to the same point of impact, or reasonably close, then the SAKO TRG and FN Ballista, cannot be beat.

I wish I had the coin to afford a PGW. Some day, perhaps. :) I think I'd need to do some serious liquidating though first.

How about this....This summer we will host an open house here with a BBQ pig roast, refreshments and run demos on what we make and the particularly un-educated ones on this forum can have their hands held as we go from one CNC centre to the next explaining what we make and how it is done? Maybe then we can book some range time and take out more than one type of ammo and see if it actually shoots in the gun???

We can then start a real-time thread on here with pictures showing whats going on so everybody can see and live the experience vicariously.

To finish the day we can review the amount of actual in service Military weapons we have produced as well as the accessories we have design built for clients such as the USMC on a sole source basis....

The crap displayed here by the usual suspects remains petty and jealous....the sources are known and they are laughable as they are so transparent in their motives. We look forward to the day when we can compete against the jealous parties in an open tender for Military weapons under formal trials however I am not holding my breath waiting for that to happen as it is far easier to complain on CGN than it is to spend 20 years building a business that is successful and thriving in a global market.

Over the years we have had issues and problems...who has not? We have done our best to fix those problems. If somebody currently has a problem please let me know what it is via email at rs@pgwdti.com and I will do my level best to fix it....
