photo for pal application

I've had to get my picture taken for this same purpose recently. Here are the RCMP specifications I received.

The picture must be a maximum size of 45mm x 57mm (1' 3/4" x 2" 1/4").

Your head length in the picture must be at least 30mm.

The picture has to be taken from the top of your head to your shoulders, and the background must contrast with your body's outline.

I had mine done at the photo shop in our local No Frills grocery store, the photographer already knew the required dimensions the first time she saw the application form. She must be so used to it because my city is filled with old coots who love to hunt and own tons of guns.

Took mine in the kitchen against the wall, printed it off on the computer, the sheet provided had the dimensions, had no troubles when i sent it in. Have done 3 others against my kitchen wall since then as well, had no troubles.

I took my own picture and printed it on photo paper sized it and sent it in with the signature of my guarantor attached to the back with gluestick. also make sure you smile big for the picture there is no requirement like for passport and drivers licenses to not smile.

Does it have to be printed on proper photo paper, or can I do it on regular paper?
I'm just about to send mine off, the photo is the final step.

So I have received my 2 copies of the cfsc exam with the stamp, one of which has to be submitted along with the pal application, along with a photo and payment.

It does mention that you do not have to submit a passport photo, but it still has to match certain criteria.

Is the easiest way just to get a passport photo and be done with it so it does not get rejected, or how do most people take the photo to send in with the pal?

That's all I have to do before I can send it in and then hurry up and wait

I went to Your Independant Grocers (Loblaws)told them it was for a PAL application and she cut it to spec, pretty cheap too i think it was 9$

I just went to the local photo lab (London Drugs) and got it done to spec. They do lots of them the young lady said.

Had mine done at Shoppers, I asked for a PAL photo and they even commented it was a good thing I asked for the PAL and not the passport photo, apparently the demensions are different.

I was watching her check the dimensions, noticed she had a book and had several sizes, actually got 2 pics for the same price. Wish all the gov agencies would get on same page lol!

Had my lady friend take my picture against a white background, re-sized to the best of my ability, printed at home with photo paper and cut to size. Im hoping the size is good because the 1 3/16" size kind of landed within my beard. Should be fine, but I can express post another if need be I suppose.

There should have been a sheet with the photo demensions with the application.

I just got a passport photo, cut it to the dimensions required, and sent it in.

No problems.

I got my wife to take my picture with my digital camera in the kitchen against the wall...first attempt she cut off the top of my head, second attempt she lost one of my ears, finally she got an OK shot, I then resized it, printed it out and cropped to the correct dimensions. Worked OK.

I have everything ready to go, but have some questions...Can your guarantor be one of your references on the application too? Also, I kind of mangled the sticker for the photo, do you think they'd accept it written on the back neatly?

The guarantor can be anyone, probably would be ok for written but just in case i may print out another tag, sometimes they can be fussy about procedures. Hate to have it come back to you and hold you up another 10 plus days
