Gday. just thought id throw up a photo of a Sambar Wallow i come across just yesterday.

My pooch was onto some good scent an id followed the tracks, come to a freshly used scrape that stunk like stag!
Always next time, unfortunatley i ran out of light!!

BTW that pic is of a weird lookin sambar stag, most down here are like a horse, alot more solid than that!

Decent looking animal. I assume they're quite good to eat so do you make steaks, roasts, hamburger, jerky, smoke or all of the above?

Im surprised to see a GWH Pointer down under.
They are a great hunting dog for tracking or killing, depending on circumstance. Given the right environment to grow wise to the game they can do everything...
Congrats on a fine looking animal and hope the steaks are great ...

Wow! Interesting animal.......I want one in my freezer too.

From what I read the Kiwis can hunt them year round. Is this the case for Australia also?
I would love a year round deer season.......

Yeh we can hunt Sambar all year round!!! its awesome to be able to go out pretty much whenever!

Yeh young stags are edidable, same as your deer, when in rut dont eat em.

I prefer a hind to eat, but this fellas backstraps were used, an a leg for the dog. the carry up the hill was too stepp for me to do much more with it.

Thats all good.
As for my GWP, hes still learning an will take many more months til he's onto it!
