Photo information sought

I would like to find a better quality copy of this photo of Jerry Potts. Any ideas or suggestions? Is that a 73 he holds in his hand?

He looks like he would "do" to ride the trail with.

The gun is a 73. I can't remember which book(s) I have seen the photo in but you might try locating the central Metis organization for a larger better copy. Unless I am badly mistaken the Metis organizations are organized into regional groups and ultimately under a parent organization.

Try Fort Whoop up or the museum in Lethbridge or the Fort Mcleod fort museum. They go big on Jerry Potts as a bit of a local hero even though I hear that he drank most of the whiskey that the NWMP seized.

1873 38-40 from the looks of it. I believe this is the same gun as is the pic, and it went up for auction at James D Julia back in 2001. Just another example of 1 piece of our great Canadian history that has gone South. Darn shame.

Great photo. He looks like some I have taken from the Tweedsmir Hotel in the seventies! Could it be a '76 he is holding or is the receiver not long enough? Great photo....Dave
