Yes, a side folder wood stock akm would be my pick, however, everyone and their moms are arming their military with rails and syn stock. I think they are just keeping up with the times, if they would make a peep sight on the ak, I would take it plastic and all.

This reminds me the scene from Snatch when Boris the Blade walks in with a massive Kalashnikov with grenade launcher and everything!

If there is any improvement need for an AK, I'd think it would be better barrel balance to alleviate the barrel wobble during full-auto fire...Other than the muzzle break.

If an AK is prohib, it just means the rcmp admits its an awesome gun!

Yea I gotta agree, there are better modernization applications in the US for the AK then what these guys are showing.

When they show something that is a pound lighter and offers more flexibility then I'll be interested. Lets be honest though, the AK's number one appeal in the world market right now is its price point. All the other strengths have been eclipsed.

Kind of funny how the first 4 or 5 responses to the original post are complaning that the new model is just a re-hash of the old model with "some plastic and lights" thrown on, and yet every single time any new variant of the AR-15 rifle hits the Internet, we hear about 1,000 requests for it.

"When will it come in?"

"How much will it be?"

"How soon can I get one?"

Guys, it's just an updated AK, the same way every AR is just an updated AR. Either you like it or you don't, but under all the fancy hardware, it's still the same gun!

Looks a bit like the Finnish Sako 95. Such a large scope is not necessary. A small PU type scope would be better or just peep sights.
The Afghans are using m-16's, at least the ANA, so that we can provide them with ammunition much more easily instead of sourcing 7.62x39. Sounds like a poor choice for this country. Newer AK's would have been better but beggars can't be choosers.

I also can't understand why Russia is using iron sights like those. Don't all major countries have rifles with peep sights now? Russia is way behind.

The line between black and red rifles seems to be fading. The ruskies are just doing to their AKs the same thing that the western world has done with our ARs.
