Both 88's look rebuilt, which is common (blued receiver) - are either turked? Most up here are, sadly. I had about the nicest Spandeau 88/05 I could ever hope for, but the Turked bolt caused it's eventual sale from my collection. I'd like to have gotten a go at the Ecuadorian contract rifles when Navy Arms first got them in the early 90's. Early on they had nice unrefurbed ones with bright receivers. The ones they had after 97 or so were crap though...
Nice refurbed Dragoon by the way! I assume Finnish capture given that it got a 91/30 HG, but retained the konovalov sight? A russian refurb would have changed the sight out.
Be that as it may, the M44 was a great design for its time. Only reason I didn't buy one is I'm a bolt action kinda guy when it comes to calibers you have to reload for. I HATE chasing rare brass in the tall stuff...
The rear of the frenchie looks similar to a SKS. Did the soviets use Dragoons (rode horses to battle but fought on foot)? I think there should be dragopons in modern warfare but with dirtbikes instead of horses.

Even in WW2 the Soviets had cavalry troops. They would normally dismount and engage the enemy. The Germans also had many white Russians aiding them in the form of cavalry. the Poles also used mounted infantry, and to considerable success.
And I also know and old Estonian gent who had a horse in the war. Who knows, with the coming "fuel shortage" we might see a few Cossack settlements pop up once more The horse is far from beaten! And I believe Putin just recently made the Cossacks an official part of the Armed forces again Im not too familiar with WW1 history, but the Eastern Front most definately saw more use of horses in mobile warfare
