The pic on the first page is not me or a rifle I have built. That stock I believe came from BAT and is a very nice piece of machining. I am quite Asian.
I build my stocks out of wood or I modify orig factory stocks. I hate inletting so splice together stocks using the factory inletted sections.
Of course, I have done a bunch with the Boyds stocks. Very nice and very well priced for what you get.
I will post pics of my 6.5 Mystic once it gets roughed in. Will give you all an idea of how easy it is to piece one together.
If you look at the 7 Mystic thread elsewhere on this forum, you will not that this a modified factory stock. I will post before pics today so you can see how you can mod one for yourself.
The material used in these Savage stocks is a mix of 'plastic' and what looks like fiberglass (?). Epoxy sticks very well to it when the surface is roughed up. Most injection molded plastics of old were made from materials I couldn't stick anything to.
This means you can cut and paste wood/plywood onto the existing inletting to make up any shape you want. Most don't like these factory stocks and usually throw them or sell them for dirt cheap. Now you can modify them to fill just about any need.
