Hello Guys,

Quick questions before I purchase some rings over on Brownell's... Will tactical rings (Warne tactical)fit on a weaver style base ? I want to put those rings on my cantelever shotgun mount... I'm shooting 3" 1/1/8 once slugs so I need something that can take the punishment !

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Cheers

Yep ! its # 947-000-113

The only thing that I'm really worried about is the cross-slot not fitting in the weaver base

thanks for your prompt response...

Hello Repete

This is a post I found on the Firingline forum...

Picatinny and Weaver will accept the same rings which are usually referred to as weaver style. The picatinny is usually used to describe a mount used by the military that has all the slots at the exact same distances so that you can move or change optics without screwing up the placement. If your AR10 and the other mount have true picatinny mount then you should be able to move one to the other. It seems like in this situation you should go with the picatinny. Good luck

As for leupold rings... I cracked a pair last year...so I'm not to impressed by them

Perhaps this will help... I shoot a rem 11/87 and the mount looks alot like a picatanny rail and the leupold mounts I have on there right now do have some play in them.

They look the same but are not.

Thr Weavers rings will fit a piccy rail but not the other way around. The crossbolt in the Weaver ring is smaller diameter.

RePete.

As Pete says, the Weavers will fit a Pic rail which has a wider slot, but not the other way around.
You cracked a set of Leupolds? Not PRWs I trust?

Few thoughts, Weaver 4X4s are not something I would highly recommend on anything with high recoil. Their Grandslams are pretty good, except that stupid saddle design. On most Warne rings the key that slots into the rail is removable, and thus can be filed down to fit a weaver rail (not an ideal solution, but I have done it in the past).

Mat - have you checked to see if Warne makes a base? I'd have to check,as we carry the rifle bases.

In some instances, the cross slot recoil lugs are a bit smaller. There tends to be a fair amount of flex in cross slot width....

Regards,

Joe
