Pick 5 cartridges that are "must have" in your safe, range, field, etc...

Reading the responses of those who have amassed large collections and then pared down is instructive. I don't want to spend my "golden years" with dozens of guns and forget to live. Just spent 4 days hunting with nothing to show but peace from being outside. I could do with:
22LR
12ga
338 or 375

A short 12ga barrel could replace my Rossi 45Colt.

I wonder what the tally would be thus far?

Certainly, the front runners would be (in no particular order)...

22LR
12ga
9mm
45ACP
308
30-06
223/556
7.62x39

a few 375H&H, 6.5x55, 30-30, .357, etc.

.22
.223/5.56
9mm
.308 Win
12guage

Those are my core calibers as well, my extras would be:

7.62x39 for plinking fun
260 Rem for long distance target shooting
358 Win for cast shooting, and ''heavy hitter'' fun

Hopefully I'll stop there but most likely won't. Shooting and novice smithing of firearms is fun. Hope they don't all get banned.
