Canada has a long and rich military heritage, though some would chose not to put that forward. This history is accompanied by the rifle that the soldier carried into battle. Some of these rifles are known to us all, and some have been forgotten to the back pages of history. From the current day to to that past that still lives, here is a list of some of those rifles.

C7/variants
FNC1
Long Branch Lee Enfield
Ross Rifle
Lee Metford Rifle
Martini Henry Rifle
Peabody Rim fire Rifle
Spencer Rifle
Sinder Rifle
1853 Enfield Rifle
Model 1842 Rifle
Brunswick rifle
Baker Rifle
Brown Bess Musket

Some of these riflers did see active service with Canadian soldiers, some did not, but they are all apart of our rich military heritage. So please pick the ones that have served the best in the history of our country via peace or war. I can't put all in the poll, so I have chosen those that are the most known.

Feel free to post comments and decussion in this post. You may vote for more than one, but keep it to at least three. vote more if you have to.

I only have personal experience with the C7, and its only been bad experiences haha

From what I've heard and seen, I would have to go with the FNC1

You forgot the latest is the C7A1 with the Elcan scope.

I have used all of these below. My preference was for the C1A1, but the C7 was Good.

In the army

C7
FNC1

Personal collection

Long Branch Lee Enfield
Ross Rifle
Martini Henry Rifle
Sinder Rifle
1853 Enfield Rifle
Brown Bess Musket

I picked the Ross, good rifle, but a day late and a dollar short, one could say despite all its problems, and I picked the LongBranch, made in Canada like the Ross, and I picked the FNC1, now that is a big bore battle rifle,

I voted C7 since it is what I am most experienced with.

I started my military service on the C1A1 but never liked it. I constantly blew gas cylinders which caused it to be nothing more than a single shot bolt action rifle at that point. And I was never able to get an XL butt for it and my face was always bruised because of it.

I prefer the C7 series because of the light weight and smaller calibre. I could carry way more ammo. And the ability to add optics, laser, and M203 make it more versatile.

At one time the FNC1A1 was known as the Ugly Stick to the purests at the time.

Thesedays, most gun owners would give thier left nut for one. Funny how things change. I wish I had been born earlier so I could have got 12.3,12.5 and 12.6 status.

The Ross is the only logical choice for the question posed.
A true Canadian rifle. All the others were either British or American designs.
Albeit the others are top notch rifles, the Ross is THE Canadian rifle in the list.
If a Canadian manufacturer was the topic of the question then there would be not other choice then Long Branch, followed by Inglis.
Cheers

Rifle does not have to be made in Canada, as thec early ones where not, just used by Canadian soliders from the time of the Brown Bess to present. Of course there are the French ones,

This poll is going good, but need more comments,
