Pick the right CZ rimfire

Of those 3 I would choose the 452 american. My 452s seem to shoot better then my 455. All CZs I've ever seen and heard of shoot well though. The farmer would be my third choice.

Depends a lot on your purpose. I only shoot from a bench, either portable or range so I opted for a 452 Thumbhole Varmint about 2 hrs ago. Will have a large scope, not worried about weight. A Trainer or other hog back style with a small scope would be the choice for walk about gun. Also new to the CZ insanity so I'm looking forward to the arrival of my new purchase. Check the rimfire central forum for in depth opinions on the various models. Good luck in your search.

There is a very nice CZ 452 Style at P&D. Synthetic stock with a stainless barrel, a beaut of a rifle and maybe the last of its kind available in Canada. I think the price on it is $599. FS

i have a 452 american and a 513 farmer. if your only goning to have one go with the 452. i love the trigger i have done on my 452 my 513 shoots just as well but the trigger is no ware near the 452 with a yo dave

This is the one I recommend to people for a great do it all 22. It shoots awesome and is very rugged. I've bought a few for friends from gunsngames after they saw mine. My 452FS is the most accurate CZ I own(even more then the scout) but it comes out more for playing then hunting.
I bought the 455FS also but it can't keep up to the 452. I have owned and sold a 452 std, silhouette, and 512 also.

452 American is a great gun and the way to go. If you are looking at a 452-2E be sure you can get a high enough mount to allow you to clear the rear sight. Tried it for a guy last week who wanted to put a good Leupold on his and never could find the proper mount which was high enough to allow clearance with the rear sight.

Depends on whether or not you're going to use it for scope or open sights - of course. I have a 455 American that's pretty good - half inch groups at 50 yards if I do my part - but have recently been considering the CZ 452 Military Trainer that has a 24+ inch barrel or the CZ Ultra Lux which has a 28+ inch barrel for their good open sights. Those long sight planes make a big difference. Folks in my Club swear by the Ultra Lux which, evidently, is no longer made but should be available on the used market.

Nice rifle!

How old is your son?... Next thing you know, you'll be buying a 2nd rifle so that you both can shoot at the same time... :pirate:

And things will not get any better as you get older. :runaway: He will buy guns like yours (because they are nice). You will buy guns like his (because they are nice)

Hi Jan,

I am on the same boat with you, looking for fun rimfire rifle for plinking, share with my 8&10 years boys and dontwant to spend much money on it. I am looking at savage mark 2. Any specific reason that you can share to go to CZ route? It's about two times price of savage. Do you think I need to pick up good optic as well? Can you just use the rear and front sight? Mind you I am very new on this. Don't have any gun and this is going to be my first purchases.

nice rifle!!
I recently purchased an CZ 455 american in 22 wmr, and i know that it is possible to buy diffrent calibre barrel sets but i cant find any place to buy them. I was wondering if it is possible for me to buy them in canada. If pissible I would like to know if the 455 lux barrels fit the 455 american stock

I just picked up a new marlin XT22 youth(blued synthetic mag fed repeater) and it weighs 4 pounds and fits the kids well. The trigger is decent on it and it groups well. It was $209. It also comes with a single shot adaptor if that works better. Cheers. Aaron
