Pick your brains? 1908 Mosin Nagant 1891

336 $ for a Finn is still a pretty good deal, though. Condition being the pivotal point of course.
Fellow down the road has a beaten up Finn 91 that I would give him 336 for gladly. Finnish rifles do command big $$$

Well, technically it's Finnish M91 or Finned Russian M91. But the only Finnish thing is the stock though. I bet receiver matches the barrel.

Could be wrong but I was under the impression that the Finn's 'separated the wheat from the chaff' when it came to rifles. And I'm guessing if it's wearing Birch, the Finn's worked it over to a point.
I disremember already though...SA marked or not?

This SA mark you speak of, I just had a quick look at the rifle so far but, I did notice what looked like a square with a "CA" stamped in it, which could also have been cyrilic lettering C which is a Russian S and the letter that looks like an A or a triangle on a little stand which is a Russian D; the mark was not very strong for the C and I do want to look at it latter to see if it could be an S. the mark was on the side of the chamber just below all the other information.

Fins had been using anything - reissueing untouched m91s and 91/30s, applying their escutcheons to original stocks, partially reworking stocks, making and fitting brand new stocks, keeping all metal parts together, discarding shotout barrels and reusing the receivers with relined barrels, with new barrels, you name it. Now, after the wars they also put together ans SA stamped a lot of rifles from the damaged ones they had in depos. I bet this one retains Izhevsk receiver and barrel with all other metal parts mixmastered mostly from other m91s and the only Finnish thing is the whole stock with escutcheons.
