My son has been wanting to shoot a low recoil centerfire he's going on eleven in a couple months so I figured a 223 was the ticket.
A friend had one for sale , this thing is like new with very low round count has a single set trigger with iron sights .

This is the first time I handled a CZ brno they seem very well made will be heading out to the range to sight it in with a scope maybe next weekend now .

The ZKK series are a high quality Mauser style action and usually pretty accurate. You can't go wrong with a ZKK in my opinion. The only issue I have with the ones chambered in .223 is that the action is a little oversize for the cartridge.

It will make a great rifle for your son. I'm sure he'll enjoy shooting it.

I couldn't make it out to the range today so I 'll try and make it out next weekend now.

Can someone direct me as to where a good place would be to get a set of medium high rings for this.

That is a little curious isn't it. The Brno mini-Mausers were perfectly sized for the .222-223 family of cartridges, it makes you wonder why they chambered the 601 in.223. Still rifles in the ZKK series, chambered for any cartridge are worthy of ownership, and Coyote's 601 is no exception; nice find, nice rifle!

The CZ527 rings will not fit the 600 series dovetail. The CZ527 has a narrower dovetail (16mm).

You would need the rings that fit the CZ550 or CKK600, 601 or 602 19mm size of dovetail.
Tradeex is a good place to find a good choice of the CZ line. They are a few dollars more than some but they are built for the rifle and I find them excellent.
Leupold is good, warne, ... several others if you can find them.

That CZ is the worst one out there, even with the set trigger your son will be hard pressed to not pull each and every shot.
Send it to me I will look after it ;)
Nice gun and accurate as well.
The weight is very manageable and will further reduce the felt recoil of the .223 round .
Both of you will enjoy that rifle.
Rings can be a challenge to fit on the grooved dovetail but they are available.
Tight Groups and a nice score,
Rob

had one in .308. Loved the rifle.. the trigger I found had excess creep but was easily adjust able or able to dissale to a nice 2 pound hunting tiggar with the set screw in the side.. you will find that the trigger is a 2 part trigger as in the sear is 2 parts.. so if you take the bottom metal off the trigger comes with it. unusual but works well. breaks nice and crisp once your used to it. Great rifle.. makes me miss my 601 :(

Nice rifle!

I've got a similar one sitting in the back of the safe, wanted initially to have it converted to 300 Whisper... But lately, I've been thinking that removing the spacer in the magazine housing, would make it a good candidate for <heavier> 223 bullets (with a new barrel to stabilize them, off course)

I have the slightly older version with the pop up peep sight in .222 rem. I'm certain you will like your rifle. Very well made and accurate arms.
