Got it from a fellow member... and I must say, none of the pictures I've ever seen have done this gun any justice! I was going to have it refinished in a black or blue but when I actually saw it in person I was blown away. Its staying just the way it is!

Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail in .45

This thing is TIGHT. It looks like a top notch build and it feels absolutely awesome in my hands. Its got quite a bit of weight to it and the trigger is insanely crisp and short.

Plan to shoot it tomorrow, can't wait!
 
Very nice. I assume it's the one that Maxim had?

I'm still thinking about one in 10mm.......

Like prproulx, I didn't like the bobtail at first but now I'm liking it!
 
Ever since I saw the commander length Nighthawk Customs with bobtail I was in love. The plan was to buy an STI Ranger II and have bobtail mod done to it but then this Dan Wesson came up for sale and I nabbed it instead.

Yes prproulx its commander length and it looks stunning in person. Proportions are just right and the bobtail is awesome.
 
So, correct me if I'm wrong, a bobtail is that chamfer at the bottom of the frame? What purpose does it serve? I honestly don't like it all that much...

I believe the point was to make it a more carry-friendly gun... no sharp edges to catch onto clothing, and its harder to identify when under shirts/etc.

I loved it from the first time I saw it. I think it looks awesome on a commander length 1911, it just makes for a more proportioned look.
 
I agree - gives it a unique look and sets it apart from the scores of other 1911's out there. That is one nice looking piece.

Change of plans, Im going shooting right now... will be at BRRC around 11-1130 if you wanna come out coltfan (or anybody else)

As for getting this gun in 9mm, I wouldn't bother. This thing is HEFTY... it has quite a bit of weight to it. I think it would shoot like a .22 if it came in 9mm. I'll confirm that tonight :)
 
I should have my STI Ranger II in next weak.I already have the Trojan but i too like the commander lentgh over the government length.Time to sell the Trojan.
 
Nice looking gun. If you don't mind, how much did you pay? Who carries the Dan Wessons up here?

Well there you go. The problem is you don't reload! I reload for 45ACP for less than you can buy 9mm. It's not as hard as you might think... and fun. :D

I don't think anybody carries Dan Wessons up here yet...

I just got back from the range. 3 members and 300 damn guests... didn't even get to shoot. What a joke.

Guess Im going tomorrow night afterall.
