So I bought another single action revolver from a fellow CGNer. Colt 1873 clone, 4 hammer-clicks, .44 Rem Mag. Overall excellent condition, no slop in the action, and the finish is nearly flawless (it has been refinished at some point). Seems like the overall quality is really good. Link to the picture below, shown with ivory grips.

The registration certificate shows the manufacturer as "Sauer", which could be J.P. Sauer & Sohn, but there are very few markings on the gun to verify that. Here is a list:
Right side of the barrel: "Liberty" and below that ".44 Magnum Caliber"
Left side of the barrel: "W-Germany" and the serial number "D####" and the Bundeswappen stamp from the Germans. If the digits in the serial number indicate anything, it might point to (19)68 as the year of manufacture, but that could be coincidence. The serial number also appears under the receiver and matches the barrel.
The internet has very little information on "Liberty" revolvers, but that could be because of different importers and marketers in the US, where most of the hits come from. But again, very little info on this particular caliber and combination of other markings.
Any info on this type of gun would be much appreciated.
