Pickled Eggs THREAD

The red things in my last batch are hot mofo peppers btw....Brine was made with pepper falkes and other hot stuff. Hot=delish!

You mean Habanero?? LOL if so you're nuts if you did not take out the seeds.. lol

and yeah the Baramundi fish is good... most fish & chips here is flake (shark, lol) so yeah um.. wierd.. lol...

Back to the eggs i was thinkin of maybe a light wine vinegar? hmm... hungry now.. pitdogboy... how's my old hood? any snow yet?

no snow bro...HEAVY rain 40-50mm a day! Rivers are swollen.

Funny thing is you are in my old old 'hood'.

The club is still there and Squamish is growing fast!

Ya the peppers are Habbys...I like it hot so the no problems there.

Flake fish is delish...

as for your eggs make sure you use 7ph vinegar...Botchalism (sp) occurs in a warm vac. environment with soft foods.

SO...! Read the safety posts in this thread and pickle some Aussie eggs!

Clean jars, hot brine, sealed lids, AND REFRIDGERATION are key my friend.

Post pics and aussie buddies thoughts and suggestions. AUZ was the first place I ever tasted a delishious pickled egg...At the local fish & chip shop on Unley Rd. I SA as I remember. Everything wrapped in butchers paper...oh man that was good times!

Could only find 1L jars last night... looking for something a bit bigger. Gonna have to hit up the specialty shops.

Anyone care to guess how many eggs will fit inside a 4L Jar? :D I also have a 1.5L jar for the remainder. that's 50 eggs boys, read em and weep :D:D:wave:

Well I grabbed me nards at lunchtime and ate one of my pickled eggs ... opened them up ... cracked one in 1/2 ... bloody thing was an ugly yellowish color thru the whole thing ... let's just say it was spicey and hot ... no blurbs in me guts yet ... operative word being "yet" ... ;) :D HAHA.

Don't keep us in suspense too long.......this is groundbreaking stuff here :)

I wanna know who has the balls to do a 5Gal pail load..... hey, this could easily turn into a home-brew Sour Kraut thread :D

That's a 4L jar that I got from Costco... full of pickles... it took me 2 weeks to get through the pickles :D

This is off topic but still... next time you are having vodka, ok ont know if you drink vodka like me (eastern euro style, so ice cold and in min. 50ml shot glasses) with your dinner...

If you want to use sliced pickles (small pieces) as a chaser, but for extra fun, put a line of honey from one of those squeeze bottles on the cold dill pickle, best vodka chase ever. trust me. :)

FOOL :slap: I said Ice Cold (as in from the freezer) !! read my post. :):)

Now that i got that out of the way... LOL ..

The grounds are good, also if you just put some roasted coffe beans and leave em in the vodka bottle for a few weeks (hard i know) it will infuse a nice flavour.

and room temp vodka is kinda gross. when it is chilled then you can taste the flavour. for a sampler pack i recommend:

Stoli (regular reg)
Belvedere
Luksusowa (potato vodka)
Zubrowka (straight or with some apple juice)
Grey Goose

.
.
and alberta springs :eek: <--kidding... lol (well unless you're 16)

and not to be off topic vodka would go great with pickled eggs... i think..
