As promised... Ok, so I lied, it's not from the match itself, it's from the drive home FROM the match... :( :( :( I'm lucky it was a small passenger car which hit me from the left, and not a pickup truck or something even bigger...

Well, they did take 1 person in an ambulance, but it was just in case - he had heart surgery not too long ago...

I was chatting with the insurance girl, and once I mentioned that the airbags deployed, she figured it would be a writeoff.... We'll see, I'll know in a couple of days if they'll try to fix it, or write it all. In addition, all the electronics inside were shot (power door locks, windows, trunk, etc)

Haha, get this - my trunk does not have a key overwrite, so I couldn't open it!! I had guns and ammo in the trunk, and I couldn't get to them!!! Fortunately I was able to reach in somehow from the inside to get to the manual emergency release and pop it open... Hmmm...

Damien;

Just a word of advice, do not let your car get repaired in Mtl.
Demand that your insurance company takes the car to a repair
shop of your choice. looks like maybe only 17K damage, from pics
car looks to be 05 or newer? If you want advice this what i do,
so drop me a line! Glad your safe, cars we fix everyday!!
Cheers

Damn... I saw you in cane last summer at Guelph and Sharon... I hope this incident did not aggravate that leg.

Glad to hear you are ok!

Did the police or other emergency people give you any flack about what was in the trunk or did they not even ask/know or not care? Curious about that part in particular.

Omen Glad you are uninjured. Take my advice have the car written off. It has no resale after an accident of that magnitude if you get it repaired and no matter how good the repair job it won’t be 100% right.

Sorry to disagree and please do not take offence but todays cars are
nothing more than giant lego blocks, you cut the garbage out and replace
it with new. This is what I do for a living and people that say ' your car will
never be right' make my life difficult. Just from the pictures Damian posted
I can see the repair on his car would not even require benching! I have seen
and repaired much worse. As far as the resale of this vehicle being affected,
not true! Disclosure laws in Ontario do not require an individual to disclose
any collision repairs to a vehicle, only dealers are prone to this. very often when you trade a car in, the dealer does not even want to know if any repairs have ever been done or they would be obliged to disclose on resale!
FWIW

Great ! More ####ty laws that make it legal to screw someone over.

In Quebec, the Civil Code provides recourse in case of a hidden defect, which is defined as a defect such that the buyer would not have bought the vehicle or paid so high a price had he been aware of it. So you Have to disclose this kind of information in Que. ( Glad I do not buy my cars in Ont.)
I had a car that should have been scrapped, but the insurance rebuilt the car anyway even though the cost of the repair was dam near the value of the car, and I have to tell you, this car was never the same again. I am not saying you are not a competent mechanic, but lets face it, like any other trade there are people who do not have sufficient skill to repair such an accident and the car will never be quite right and if honest when selling the car, the value of the car will stink, no one will pay full price for a car that was in a huge accident no matter how well it was rebuilt.

Look on the bright side, you have an excuse for every miss etc

"I would have won that match if I wasn't so shaken up"

"I can't start in this car stage it causes flashbacks"

Even better

"I can't possibly drive for the Triangle match maybe you should drive and I just rest"

Take care and get better, the Area Matches start in May......

hey all,

Well, I still haven't heard from the insurance people, maybe tomorrow...

I was hit, very gently, by a pickup truck, in my previous infiniti, into the front left side (basically the guy drove into the front left wheel while I was standing at a light), and just that run about $8K. This is much more involved, plus it requires both of the left doors (it cost me $600 to just replace a busted window, not too long ago!), plus the electronics, plus the inside airbag reset, plus the inside below the steering colum which got squeeshed, plus the front right headline (one of the garage people told me to replace one of those Zeon headlines could be $3K), etc, etc... I would not be surprised if it cost $25+K to fix this... It is a lease, so it's going back to the leasing agent after 2 years if I get it back... I donno, I'm on the fence re what I want them to do...

Re guns - I didn't say anything to anyone, I figured there was no need, everything was locked up/etc, it would only serve to confuse the situation. If I had to leave them in the lot, I would have called the CFO the next day, but since we got them out and home, there was no need...

Haha, re excuses for the match - nah, unfortunately it happened AFTER the match, but today I discovered that my gun shoots about a foot hight at 15 yards, which explains why I couldn't hit any plates or swingers in Montreal :( (while poppers were just fine)... Ohh, well, live and learn, eh ;)

Ohh, someone asked about the side airbag - didn't hear/feel it at all, but I did HEAR the window burst, and I expected to feel a shower of glass hit me in the face, but that didn't happen - so the airbag must have deployed already, and took most of that... Pretty nifty, if you ask me...
