Ohh, someone asked about the side airbag - didn't hear/feel it at all, but I did HEAR the window burst, and I expected to feel a shower of glass hit me in the face, but that didn't happen - so the airbag must have deployed already, and took most of that... Pretty nifty, if you ask me...

Or did the window break when the airbag deployed ??? I do not know about side airbags, but a body shop guy I know mentioned to me that when airbags are deployed, many times it cracks the windshield because of the extremely rapid deployment and the pressure in the cabin of the vehicle, maybe Curtdad has info on that.

No, I don't think so, the curtain is actually pretty thin and didn't take up a lot of volume (unlike a front airbag deploying)... The driver side side window burst because the hit into the door twister the door and put a lot of 'bending' stress on the glass, and it's designed to shatter when that happens (at least that's what I think happened)...

Still waiting.. ohh, well - I think they are deciding what to do...
 
it's official - write off!

So I'm car-less for now... will probably need to get rentals to go to matches... Ohh, well :(
