Pics from Sylvester Rd Clean-up, Sep 21, 2013

Its been many many years since I have been there,, but it looks like that is a lot further up the hill than the original gravel pit where most stopped to shoot? Have people left that area and are now going to other areas to make a mess? That used to be nice bush up there, with many deer and grouse opportunities. From what I see, that may have changed?
That was at 4.5 kms, before the gravel pit. All that garbage in the bin was collected from the first 6 kms of road, and the side trails.

I don't shoot there but I hope the people who do clean up their act.
I don't ride there or shoot there. I just clean there. lol

Wow! I don't remember there being anywhere to shoot before the big pit. There must be quite a few trails in there now. Is there proper access to the two small lakes on the left side of the road?

There are numerous locations in that area which are littered with shotgun shells, targets, and other shooting-related debris; not just the gravel pit, and not just the areas that we were able to get to this weekend.

I noted that this year, the "backstop" at the 4.5 km location is now a newly-logged cut (maybe 200 feet past the treeline in the photos). The sun-lit ground that you can see through the trees is the logged area. Also, there's always been a trail through there, not visible from the spot where the shooters stand, but well-within "range".

There are several trails leading to Davis Lake. I have not accessed Salsbury Lake, but I've seen trails on a map.

That's awesome guys! Random thought; it would be an interesting social experiment to erect a sign that said, "This area is for everybody, please pick up your shells and debris when you're done" or something along those lines...and see how long it takes to get shot, OR if people actually respect its message.

Good work.....you know what the best is? Going to a spot and seeing old bathtubs, microwaves, tv sets, car parts and other things that take way too much effort to haul into the bush and shoot them with shotguns. I hope this is a wake up call to all the knobs that do this crap and see how much effort goes into cleaning up this stuff. But tis life and morons exist to make messes while good folks clean it up.

P.S. 2 year mandatory military service would straighten mess makers up pretty quick.

Good work! I've never shot in the wild but if I had an area like this, you can bet it would always be kept clean.
I just don't understand people who think the world is their garbage dump/ash tray.
