Pics of my M14 in a Troy MCS and questions about muzzle brake options...

Hello everybody! I recently bought this direct connect brake from ebay for cheap and it is threaded specifically for the Norinco's metric threads. I was just wondering what other options are out there and how long it would take to receive. I REALLY want the Springfield brake just for the way it looks and I ordered it from Springfield Armory, but that thing has been "processing" for a couple months now and I haven't had a single reply to my emails.... basically the reason why I broke down and resorted to searching for inexpensive brake options.

I know there is the USCG brake which I would love to get, but that is $170 and I more wanted something to "finish off" the end of my barrel as I trashed my flash hider trying to remove it and I don't care about the functionality as this rifle doesn't have much recoil anyway.

I was going to buy the Troy Medieval brake but the day I decided to buy it, it sold out from the site I was going to buy it from and I don't even know if it would thread right on the M305.... BAH!

lol, this has actually been quiet the ordeal trying to find muzzle brake options for the Norinco so I just want to see if anybody knows off hand what is available without tooling the end of the barrels. Pretty much anything that is direct connect or uses the existing castle nut.

This is where I stop typing because I never know when to quit.

Loving my new brake though. Direct connect for the Norinco for $75 and free shipping. I thought it would be stupid if I passed it up so if the maker of this brake lurks on these forums, THANK YOU. I do not regret this. Just wish there were a LOT more options than the small handful we have. You'd think there would be, given the demand and length of time we have been allowed to buy these for.

Ok... seriously.... now is the time to quit typing.......

[EDIT] if anybody is wondering why I sandwiched the old barrel band in with my gas system is because the drilled out ports inside didn't line up or even close to it. Doing this fixed the problem.

Um, unless I'm crazy, the front band doesn't belong where you have it?

:p I covered this in my original post. I used the old band instead of shims as it was what I had on hand that worked perfect and fixed cycling issues for me. I never bothered to change it out yet for something that looks prettier.

To answer another question, I got the Troy MCS Chassis from CTCSupplies, I got the scope/scope mount, buttstock and buffer tube from Wolverine Supplies and the pistol grips and other accessories from eBay.

I would like to mention the angled foregrip is the PST foregrip which I though was an actual Magpul foregrip, and not an airsoft/training device, at the time of purchase. However, I can't tell the difference between this and the actual Magpul product that costs more than twice as much. Seems to be just as durable and made from the same materials. It is also more than harsh chemical resistant. (Cleaners don't turn it to goo.) it works, so I keep it. :)

Your break looks like a PWS SM556 clone!

Cool

So it does, good observation! :D

So here is a crazy thought, what is stopping me from tapping a 5.56 muzzle brake and bore out the opposite end? Would there be anything negative to this or some reason why it should not be done? Will I put my eye out?

[EDIT] I'm only assuming that the threaded end of a 5.56 muzzle device is smaller in diameter than the muzzle end of the M305 and there would be surface space to cut threads into.

nothing if you have a lathe, but doing it by hand and you will most likely have a hole that isn't concentric to the bore axis and crooked threads ;)

Thank you for answering my next question. :p I guess I would need a lathe. Not really feasible anymore.... poop. I just wish there was a ridiculous amount of options like the AR platform. Why can't I have my cake and eat it too? I love cake...

Hey AVT,
Did you mount your MCS on a Norinco... I just got the same set up but having some difficulty with the alignment (I have an M305) and Troy is telling me that the MCS is "incompatible" with Norinco??
