Picked up some Leupold quick release rings and the new Williams Firesight today. I had the Tru Glo system on it and do not recommend it as the rear sight has a cheap plastic piece. This Williams system however is all business.

Looks good! :)

I'm a bit surprised at the choice to keep using a barrel mounted rear sight. I find the factory rear sight very difficult to get a clear sight picture with, and thought that a receiver mounted sight would be the way to go.

Have you tried a peep or ghost ring sight on these rifles in the past? I'm wondering if you can compare from experience how the two styles compare in use. I'm still trying to finalize my plans in this regard, that's why I'm grilling ya on it. ;)

I'm going with the same rings, so please let us know if they have any recoil or return to zero issues once you get some play time with them. :)

Hey Win94, nice rig. I even like the bedliner paint! How do you like those Leupold quick release rings? I have an XS scout mount coming from TSE real soon and am looking for qr rings, either Warne or Leupold. Where did you get them?

I never used to be a fan of scopes on lever guns other than Savage 99's, but yours looks kinda cool with the QD rings and paintjob. Are you gonna replace that fugly plastic magazine follower with a brass or stainless one?

I'm not knowledgeable on guide guns but I thought by being a guide the gun was mostly used in self defense of the group or persons you are guiding, If that is the case your iron sights are great but what are the specs. with the scope....depending on this I would say that it is a rather good set-up if the scope offers fast target aquisition at close range.

if I can answer that for Win94 I believe his scope is a chinese made Bushco 1-4x20mm. That gold ring on it was painted with his ol lady's nail polish :shotgun:

BTW I dont believe those are Leupold quick detach, I think its a god damn Photoshop! :p

The Leupold Quick release rings were from P&D and the Williams Firesight came from Western Gun Parts. I had the Ashley XS peep system on my last Guidegun and didn't like it at all so i sold it here. The scope is a Leupold M8 2.5x compact.

.....................Wait till i get the flashlight mount!!!! :D
I actually like the rifle overall, but the shock of seeing that brand new walnut stock painted over with that black goober was a real shocker.

I'm still recovering from the intial jolt.

Ha ha i know Paul. I sent the pic to my old man and he tried to be polite and supportive as possible but he said he's a wood guy.:D The only stainless wood combo i ever liked was a Winchester classic that someone sold here in
