Pics of some of the nice rifles that showed up to play in Petawawa

That condor one you suggested looks awesome, I like that it has backpack straps that tuck away when not in use, and no external bags or pouches to snag up on branches and stuff while transporting. Also, no external stuff means no time wasted unclipping stuff from your case before you can get your mat set up.

Did not find any english videos of it yet, but here is one of it that shows off the basic features.

Hey, TYC147:

Just like I been saying for years... don't spend a shztload of money on this game(well not on the gear). Spend the money on practice and match ammo! I like that NCStar price point. Most of us here ain't deploying but rather having fun shooting on the range. So why not support the local dealers here and buy a mat the does the job, looks KOOL, but does not break the bank?

Besides, many newbies are reading our posts and learning! That's what it's all about!

Cheers and keep helping the newbs here!

Barney

So here I am sitting in the garage having a cigarette and tinkering with my rifle, and I cant stop wishing it was last Saturday. People at work must been waiting for me to shut my mouth about the clinic. It got so bad that I took Thursday off work and picked up Jean to drive up the pipeline for crown land to shoot on. Well we found a spot to shoot up to at least 1200 meters. I got the bug in a bad way, I'd say more like a crack addiction, and I blame it on you guys.

You're not the only one. I'm in search for some Crown land in my neck of the woods at least within an hour or so. That said my Daniel Defence 10.5 has arrived at the dealer so I'll have that for my Tactical Rifle II course coming in October.

TDSA course, I've done their Tac Rifle 1 and their Pistol 1 this summer. The Tactical Rifle 2 brings them together, transitions from primary to secondary, more shooting and moving and shooting around obstacles. Should be fun.

Lots of gear talk so far...great stuff. Now, how was everyone's shooting technique? I found that on the rapids I really had to concentrate on keeping relaxed - especially my trigger hand. I found that if I wasn't consciously forcing myself to relax my grip, then it found its way into a kung-fu deathgrip, making it hard to squeeze the trigger without pulling the shot. Not so bad at 200, but at 300 and 500...yuck. It happens when I shoot Service Rifle too. Keeping my breath relaxed helps with it.

I was gripping my rifle like a stress ball as well. Breathing was an issue for me as too. I also wish I took my time when we had eight seconds on two targets. (shooting too fast)

I had to fire 3 in 8 seconds twice to play catch up LOL.
Once I did that I realized that 8 seconds feels like an eternity so I slowed down my shooting which helped me a lot.
I also noticed that I shoot better at low magnification.

I'm also looking at different Kowa spotting scopes but I just bought an M1A National Match and I just got a call from my local gun shop earlier today that the 6,000 round box of Hornady .224 FMJ-BT bullets I ordered in March have arrived.

I guess this is what they call first world problems.:ninja:

Yup, good that you noticed about shooting better on lower magnification. It also avoids crossover on the targets. Bwahahahaha. Too add to that, I also found that keeping both eyes open between exposures helped because my left eye could see the butts flag and I could make any last second adjustments for wind....not that I didn't have a great spotter (chalkriver). I was also able to tell when Hungry was sneaking up from behind to seranade me with some pre-schooler tunes.

You making fun of the crossover I had on 23?
At least I gave him a V bullcou:

All week I was walking around with a big grin on my face.
We really need to get back there and do it again.
I'm 95% certain that I'm going to the m14 clinic that will be given next month.

Good on ya. If you think the PR clinic was fun, wait till the M14 clinic. Waiting for approval from the wife, whose now catching on..."What, you're going to another M14 clinic?"

Yeah, for me too.
Was expecting before going into the shoot, to be at minor disadvantage with 10X fixed .... but ended up quite comfortable there. I assume that longer ranges could use some more magnification to good effect, but 600 was no problem on that day.
It was a usefull advantage to be seeing the lane number in the top field of view, when pressed for time in the snaps. Less barrel heat distortion shows in the FOV as well. Not so much wobble exaggeration of those quickly aimed holds, that was good too.
I observed some shooters cranking down on the power out to the 500 stages, especially for those fast double shot exposures. Buzzballer's results definately improved after cranking back on the X's.

I learned the absolute imperative of really good glass/turrets at Pet, and do need to upgrade scope as 1'st priority.
Problem is, who makes good solid fixed 10 or 12X these days? .... any suggestions from y'all would be appreciated.

Well seeing as you asked of course S&B makes a nice one 10x42 PM, US Optics makes a 10x too. If you're going to go quality like S&B, NightForce, US Optics might as well go variable then you have options, its not like you loose anything (other than money but the couple of fixed options aren't cheaper).

I deliberately didn't seat my mag on the first match so that I had to catch up.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

2 in 8 seconds is not too hard, but 4 in 8 starts getting sporty. I'm almost tempted to try and see if I can shoot all my rounds in two exposures next time :).
