I will be doing a table top review and a zeroing exercise at the range with this rifle before the winter is through. There have been a lot of questions and mystery surrounding these rifles that no-one seems to have clear answers for. I keep hearing stories of production lines being reactivated to build these mounts and optics, stories of aluminum VS steel mounts and so-on. We don't know the real story - so some investigation is required.
In the mean time here are a few pictures for your interest.
My first impressions are that the workmanship is acceptible although slightly messy. The materials seem to be of good quality. Mount is solid and firmly attached to the rifle. The fit is very close to flush and I can see it requiring a firm impact before losing zero.
The optic is acceptable although it does not come close to the clarity of the real thing. There is distortion on the outter 33% of the image while the centre 66% is clear and the image quality is acceptible. My experience with real PU scopes was of excellent clarity and very little parallax. For the price, the scope will do but if this rifle shoots well I would consider replacing this optic with a real PU scope.
More to come. Pay attention to the images inside the action. I think you will find them interesting. The rifle requires a top to bottom tear down, cleaning, safety check and lubrication session. Note the traces of cosmoline on the inside of the action. For poops and giggles I have installed a huber concept trigger that I had kicking about (what a difference).
