My wife and I went to deer camp this weekend, for a bow hunt. Didn't see any deer. BUT
She had a very close encounter with a cow moose.
It apparently followed her tracks in the snow. She didn't hear it until it was twenty feet away, and if she hadn't spoken to it, it likely would have come closer. She loved the experience!
Damn I'm lucky :dancingbanana:

does she have a sister or a mother or something?talk about having a lucky charm:)
what was her reaction? i have a rough idea.....as i had a cow in front of me last year..about the same distance..
it was awesome:D

Hahaha.... reminds me of a time we were trying a new moose call. We were getting really frustrated trying to get the thing to make anything that sounded like a reasonable noise.

Apparently we were the only ones with that concern....... We heard a huge CRASH in the thicket behind us and in walks a HUGE bull moose with love in his eyes!! Good thing one of us wasn't so ####-scared staring at a love-lorne moose at 15 yds that he shoudered his rifle and dropped that moose with a shot right between the eyes...

It was a darned good thing that moose was alone, 'cause right after that shot, we were all incapacitated, rolling on the ground laughing at our stupidity!

Atleast she didnt come between a sow grizzly and her cub  My wife was not too happy with me after that one. You might say it freaked her out just a little ;) :D

But hey, atleast now she has a good idea why I always have a gun with us :D

Deer camp is area 63A east of Denbigh off Hwy 41 in Ontario.

At least she got to see something besides squirrels. One of our group generally sees at least one moose every year. One of the guys saw one this year too, although it wasn't that close.

We've got a couple that hang around our place. My wife was worried the first time she had to walk from her truck to the house when the cow was close, but she got over it in a hurry. They aren't interested in much other than our bushes and weeds.

Great experience for your wife - she must have been thrilled :)

Most women I know, wouldn't have been out in the bush alone in the first place, and if they were, a moose would have sent them screaming long before twenty feet.
Some of them probably would have been frightenned by the red squirrels.
