Hi guys,
I've been pondering picking up a Finn M39 for a while, and one term that I've often seen with these rifles is "Finn-matched", which I believe means that the bolt has been renumbered to match the barrel? I'm curious about how the renumbering was done and whether the original numbers were stamped out/over or left as-is? Can it normally be expected to find any other matching numbers on a typical M39 in Canada beyond the bolt/barre?
Since Finn-matched rifles are considered to be "correct", does this mean that when the Finns built these rifles, they separated the donor rifles into parts bin and then just built the M39s with whatever happened to come "out of the bucket"? I assume then that the bolts were renumbered after headspace had been established/verified to prevent separation?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide... just wanted to make sure I understand what to be looking for in a good example.
