I'm looking to get my 600 set up with a scope for some rimfire metal silhouette shooting and general plinking. My 600 is one of the earlier ones without the dovetails. It's got the holes drilled along the side of the receiver at the "10:30 o'clock" 45 degree angle.

I'm thinking of making my own mount but before I do I'd like to see what the original factory mounts for these looked like. The issue is complicated by the fact that the empties are ejected straight up so to get the scope to mount over the bore I'll need an angled deflector area in the mount. Pictures of your setups will help a lot.

The other option is to just go with the flow and buy the Weaver #2 side mount, platform and rings. But this seems sort of a kludgey and Mecano set sort of solution with all the bits and screws. Pictures of these setups would also be appreciated along with your thoughts on how it's been working for you. With this Weaver setup does the scope sit over the bore or is it offset to the side?

As long as the holes in the receiver are drilled in the correct location, the scope will not be offset using the weaver side mount.

I have a savage 4c that was D&T at factory(afaik)
With the weaver #2 mount & rings, the scope will not center over the barrel, it's ~1/4" to the right.

^-One of the 3/4" Weaver N mounts might work. I think I'll see if I can just get it re-d&t
What do you have cyclone? Is your bolt not clearing the scope as well?

Was their any factory mounted scopes or mounts for the cooeys? Of were they just D&T for the weaver mounts available at the time.

the original Weaver mounts were available only in the 3/4 inch ring size as the 1 inch scopes were not around then. I have had several model 60s that had the scope mount and 4x scopes. Factory drilled and tapped. If a modern 1 inch scope is to be used, then the 2- piece modern mounts can be used.

I have Cooey 600 with the four holes drilled in the side :).

All the 2-piece side mount "says" is Weaver Side - 1" HL :yingyang: - and the rings say they are 1-inch ones...;)

I have no idea what screw-size fits the drilled holes  - but I do know what doesn't work  after several attempts - upon further "reflection" :D , it seems like longer versions of the 10/22 scope-mount screws are the kind required for the Cooey's drilled holes  - but I'd love to get the "exact name" of the measurements of said screws...:stirthepot2:

Thanks again for all the help  - I truly appreciate it! :dancingbanana:

Still don't see any pictures!

You're bothering me and making me go to extra work. You could have just went to the link I posted. :bangHead: :p

HaHa I was wondering if I was the only one with the scope mount on mine. Mine is slightly different though, with four small screws not like that. Is that a 600? My trigger guard is different and stock has the rabbit on it. Might just be newer. If you need I'll post pics tomorrow. I will say however that even with the old scope and cheap bulk .22lr this is one of the most accurate .22's I have ever fired. Mine has the heavy tapered barrel, and I love it. Best $100 I ever spent.

The 600s have a shorter mag tube than the 60s. The rabbit stocks, I have seen on both series of guns and also the early model 64s. I have one of those rabbit 64s. the actual base for the replica ( modern) mount has the 4 holes for mounting the base to the gun then the 2 big fasteners hold the top ring flange to the base, the mount being a 2 peice unit.. Thus you can use the 1 inch scopes.

the original weaver side mount also has the 4 holes for mounting the flange to the gun but the whole mount is one piece and the rings only fits the early 3/4 inch scopes.

You're killing me re: the type of the screws, tho! :p

The screws you need are #8-40. When I drilled and tapped my Cooey 60 for a #2 base I looked everywhere for a #8-40 tap and could not find one locally. Googled #8-40 tap and the first thing that came up was a Weaver tap for about 10 bucks plus shipping. I said the heck with that and drilled and tapped mine #8-32, but if yours is already D&T #8-40 is what you need.

I have a couple Cooey 60 projects in progress. I will post pics when they're done.
