Pictures of the SKS bought from westrifle.com

I just received mine today, so I'll take a few pics tomorrow when the light is better.

First impressions, thought, are it appears to be unissued, and in beautiful condition. The stock is a gorgeous deep red/brown color.
Not too much visible cosmo, but I haven't disassembled it yet. I actually got it a day earlier than the CP site estimated, so good for them!

Ok, here is a quick pic I took tonite. That stock is just too nice....bayonet has a hint of gold to it from its 58 year bath in cosmo!

From BC to Ontario in 5 days, over a weekend. Pretty good.

Wow, that looks fantastic! I never really had the urge to own an SKS... Buddy of mine just got one, and he brought it out the other day... Few rounds through it, and now I gotta have one!!!!!

I have thus far resisted the call to purchse a SKS because I know myself.

I won't be able to stop at one.

I'm beginning to rethink it though.

got mine today, very happy is an understatement best ones i have ever seen, and ive had a LOT of them through my hands. resisting the urge to order a couple more..... so far

A few things I meant to ask;

I am hesitant to buy one online without seeing it in person.... Did you just take a gamble and hope you got a nice one? Pictures dont always do them justice.

Also, the ones westrife have are solid stocks, not laminated correct? Is the $60 more worth it? Someone told me the laminated were better, not only because they were cheaper, but more resistant to cracking from putting large numbers of rounds through them... any thoughts on that for you guys that have them?

I'd buy one tomorrow, but want one thats in very to to excellent shape.

Yours looks like an unissued one Repro77? I really dont want a refurbished one...

I think westrifle hand picks the SKS they bring in to sell. A lot of them were unissued, so they are in brand new condition.

Don't think you need to worry about duds from them.

Yep, mine is unissued.

Refurbishment isn't really a bad thing. Parts have been replaced with new ones, and they make great shooters, and are cheaper. I don't really plan on shooting this one much, if at all, they are almost collector grade. I have a refurb for shooting, and its in great shape, and all numbers match too.

Westrifle has 7 pics of each SKS on their site, so you really can't go wrong.

Sorry for the delay Al, I was in the hospital when it came in and I was a bit slow to to get it cleaned and take photos. This rifle is all matching numbers and is in great shape other than a few handling and crate marks. The date is a bit of a mystery as there are no armory or date stamps on the rifle, but I love a good mystery. The receiver cover is blank on top but the back end has the matching numbers stamped on it. Non-chrome barrel puts my belief at about 1950 or 51. took 5 days to get here, and great looking rifle at a better than great price. If I was hand picking rifles, this one would definitely be in my picks...

haven't fired it yet, but here are the pics :

Aren't ones that are not dated and have the star on the side 55/56? I think a sticky in the Red Rifles section explained this.

Are you sure that it is non chrome lined. I was checking for all of them to be chrome lined. By the way I got a few weird tools in the package you said you wanted those. Send me an email or Facebook as usual. I will send you picks to see if you like it.
I just realize I have email from you even on my personal email.

Cheers

Al

Pretty sure its not chrome lined. I have a few rifles that are and there is an obvious difference. I kinda like the idea that this one is a bit different. I picked it up for a Christmas present to a friend, but now I have to keep it and shoot it :)
