PID Temperature Controller for casting. Looking for input.

I have built functional temperture control units using the REX C100 for about $25.
Please remember the PID function is overkill in temperature control.
Most pots use a thermostat that is bymetal and is rather unresponsive to the alloy temperature in the pot.
I have set the PID unit so that it is a simple on / off thermostat and get the same temperature control as when it set to PID control.
The advantage of the PID unit is that you have a real time measure of the alloy temperature in your lead pot. No guessing, and no compensating for variations in your lead thermometer

A REX C100 controller with SSR (Solid state Relay) controll is less than $15.00 shipped to Canada.
The SS5 is Less than $4.
I just got a dozen 4" long thermocouples with 1 Meter cables for less than $30.
If you use a metal case, you don't really need a heat sink.

You do need to use smaller fork terminal connectors to wire to to the PID terminals
