Piebald Deer

I've only ever seen one piebald doe, but my brother-in-law almost connected on a really nice piebald 8-pt buck a couple of years back. If I had the chance, I'd take it. It's the only big game head I have an interest in stuffing.

I harvested a real nice looking piebald buck last fall. Hesitant of sharing pics online of it though.

cheers,

At the end of the day it is just a white-tailed deer. All other reverence is based on human emotion. No hunter who lawfully harvests a piebald should be subject to shaming.

The meat tastes the same, we have been eating well all winter because of it. If anything I count it as lucky not some form of bad luck as some people like to say. It's luck I got to see one, luck that it was a buck, and lucky because 3 weeks later I got a bigger buck with a muzzleloader.

I have first nations friends and that alone out of respect for their beliefs I would never shoot one
Other deer around to take
Take care

I was told as a child that they are spirits and Bad luck comes to those who bother or harm them.

There isn't a lot from my culture I pay attention to but this has stuck with me for some reason.

I heard tell, but these photos are the first I have seen. Thanks!

I shot a big white raccoon out of my cousins barn for them, many years ago.

We do see the odd jet black raccoon though.

Of course. That's respectful. I also wouldn't shoot a massive buck if my neighbour was feeding it out the back door and had an orange collar on its neck. Same sort of idea. You should try to get along with your neighbours and friends. But around here, we have no reserves and most of the FN people I know are my Metis in-laws, who would be giving me high-fives, not grief.

Out of respect for all the Canadian Hindus you should stop killing and eating Cows.

Out of respect for all the Muslims and my Muslim friends we should stop eating pork or selling it anywhere they might be.
See how that works?

To each their own if that's how you want to be, there isn't always other chances or other deer to take for everyone.

This might be your opinion and how you personally feel but for anyone to force their mythical belief system on anyone else is just wrong. Or persecute them for it. I live my life based on science and science tells me there is nothing but a genetic difference from a piebald to a regular run of the mill deer. It's a cool and rare opportunity to harvest one, a once in a lifetime thing. I am proud and lucky that I got the opportunity and if anyone else can't see or respect that then it's their issue not mine. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Bit of a different situation if you live on CB. I don't disagree, but it never hurts to get along with your neighbours, if you can happily shoot something else.

To each their own I say again. But to try to compare it to your other examples is really grasping. No one has forced anything on me it is called respect for first nation friends and their different beliefs
Something you clearly don't understand. Maybe you lack hunting skills and need to shoot a white deer I don't to get meat in the freezer even on the cape and my friends mean way more to me regardless
LOL you quack like you do here about it but don't have the nuts to post a pic of your white deer. Priceless
Cheers

Just in black face like our PM :) That's acceptable now right?

LOL sure is. Don't mind me I am just picking on you :)
When they shot the white moose here yes that pissed me off and I hoped they would get cursed since the dam thing was almost tame and we would drive up to get pics as did a lot of people
It really was bringing some money into that small community from tourists there to see him and special to first nations . 99.9 % of the moose hunters here knew that and left him alone. Like one guy said he could have shot it 4 times one year but passed
As far as anyone shooting a white deer fill your boots it is just not for me and I shared why
You remember the moose story and I bet they will never shoot another from the fall out
take care and stay safe
