so i fitted the stock for my geha today and went and shot a couple rounds. it pierced probably about 3 out of every 5 primers. and the ones it didnt pearce it struck quite hard. it didnt used to do this it had sat for 7 months since the last time i fired it.

so a couple of questions
1-how big of a problem is this? i was shooting the cheap winchester target loads so im not relading them or anything.

2-why would it start to do this and how can i fix it?

Just a few thoughts.

Is the ammunition it is now piercing the same brand or lot that you used previously with no issue. If your reloading are your primers seating completely?
Try to determine whether it is a ammo issue or gun mechanical issue.

If it's not the ammo, something is causing the firing pin to reach a little further than normal. Firing pins just don't grow longer for no reason.

An issue with pierced primers is the escaping gas. A small jet of gas erodes the tip of the firing pin fairly quick. You can see the effects with a magnifying glass, or frequently with eyes only.

I would check the length, diameter and shape of the firing pin. The hole in the bolt face may be too large also.

I know it sounds obvious but, is the removable bolt face in place? I inherited a Geha from my great grandfather that was missing that little bugger and it took me 3 or 4 tries to machine one correctly to not pierce the primers (I think it was too much head spacing that when it fired and the shell could move rearward slightly and the firing pin was protruding further than it should). So if that piece is in place, possibly it is worn down?

yea the removable bolt face is in place. its the same ammo ive fired lots with out much of a problem. for the most part its just a shiny gun i have been playing with refinishing it dosnt get shot much. the ammo is a little old so mayby ill grab some new shells and try that.
