Pietta 1873 grip conversion from birdshead to traditional

Just wondering what would be needed to change the 1873 birdshead/thunderer grips to the traditional/plow handle style. Any help greatly appreciated!

Should be as simple as swapping out one grip frame, for the other. Some minor fitting may be involved, but generally, they fit. VTI Gun Parts is your source for Pietta parts.

Maybe the original trigger guard would work with a standard backstrap. Worth trying before buying.

Tiriaq is correct. The trigger guard/front gripstrap, is common to both grip styles. The only parts that change are the backstrap, and wooden grip. You can purchase the backstrap either unfinished, or finished.. Likewise the grip. Another excellent source for Pietta parts, is Taylor's & Co. Great service and quick delivery, similar to VTI.
