hi. been here a while looking around and finding all kinds of use full info.this is my first post so here goes .I have ssa pieta 45 c0lt that has seen little use and only shot my own 230 gn cast bullets loaded to mid range powder charges.the cylinder pin keeps working its way out. it has the spring loaded cross pin and I always line it up with notch in the pin. so any info would be greatly appreciated .thanks in

Hmmm. I have the same gun, brand spanking new too. Have yet to fire it though. Will be shooting some spicy reloads to start and will keep an eye out for that. Tagged for interest. Hope others chime in .

Can you pull the pin out manually? If so, it's not in right. It should 'click' when it gets put back in. Also, check the tightness of the screw that holds the cross pin together and that your spring is still in there. Mine clicks in well and I can't move it out unless I depress the cross screw, which is what you do when you take the cylinder out.

I had the exact same problem for me there was a burr on grove machines into the pin and wasn't letting the pin seat.

As far as the keeper springs in when the pin is not in place is how far it should travel when the base pin IS in place. If it's not moving the same amount for both cases then it's not unknown at all for it to jump to the side and let the base pin "recoil" forward when firing.

Pietta makes nice enough guns. BUT... they are made to a price. So a touch of fitting might be needed to make them perfect. If you don't feel good about doing this then take it back to the shop or to a local smith. It's an easy fix and should not cost a lot.
