Been looking at those reasonably priced Pietta single action revolvers Marstar is stocking for $425 and up, especially the .357 Magnum models. Anyone with experience of these? Are they the "load 5" single actions, or do they have a Ruger style transfer bar?

I wondered about this but never remembered to check. I don't have convenient access to them right now so maybe someone else will answer this.
I have two for cowboy action shooting. They seem fine to me. The ejection of cartridges seems a little rough. I wonder if the springs are rubbing on tool marks? I have only shoot them for three matches but have had no problems with them.
I bought them almost new from an ex gun club member who sold off all his guns after his first child, then decided to get back into it but then sold all after the second child. I believe he only shot the guns a couple of times at a cowboy action course put on by one of the club members in the spring.
I previously had been shooting a couple of Ruger Blackhaws for the last three years. I like the size and ballance of the Piettas much better.
I have one in .45 colt. They are ok, trigger is a bit heavy though. They don't have transfer bar.
If i compare to my Cimmaron (made by Uberti), i cannot see bug difference in finish but the action is definitely better than on my Pietta.
It's a good entry gun in my opinion.

The Piettas from Marstar are the Great Western II's. I have a pair of the birdshead grip in .357 and they are easily the nicest and smoothest single actions I have ever owned.
All reviews have given them high marks and I agree.
The grips are nicely finished, the case coloring is wonderful. The trigggers are crisp and smooth and they lock up tighter than a drum.
I have owned Uberti's, Rugers, and a few German made single actions and I would buy more Piettas given half the chance.
For the money they are the best value in cowboy guns going.
